Deniz Aytekin (born 21 July 1978) is a German football referee of Turkish origin who is based in Oberasbach. He referees for TSV Altenberg of the Bavarian Football Association. He is a FIFA referee, and is ranked as a UEFA Elite group referee.

Refereeing career

Aytekin refereed his first Bundesliga match on 27 September 2008 when Hertha BSC played FC Energie Cottbus in Berlin. Energie Cottbus won the game 1–0, and Aytekin gave out four yellow cards, including one to Cottbus goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel for time-wasting in the 90th minute. He refereed one of the most controversial games of 2017 in which FC Barcelona won Paris Saint-Germain F.C. 6-1 and went to the semi finals of 2016–17 UEFA Champions League.In the game Aytekin didn't call 2 penalties for Paris Saint-Germain F.C.,called 2 very suspicious penalties for FC Barcelona and could have sent off Neymar for his brutal tackle on Marquinhos.

Personal life

Aytekin lives in Oberasbach, Bavaria and is an internet entrepreneur.
