    Article Redirected

hi, I had my recent page 2/2nd anti-tank regiment (australia) redirected to 2nd anti-tank regiment (Australia), these are two different military units and I want it reverted back to 2/2nd anti-tank regiment (australia). — Preceding unsigned comment added by AntiTankReg (talkcontribs) 02:18, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

    Kumar: same person

This seems to be the same person, consider coming out in september 2011:

    Queryzo (talk) 06:43, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

Yes, Kumar (comedian) appears to be the result of a 2016 cut and paste partial copy by the now indeffed user:Theagenda60616. This needs to be merged. There appear to be almost no substantial edits to the content other than a change to birthdate, so we can likely just redirect this after verifying the birthdate. Meters (talk) 07:07, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
My mistake. Created by now-indeffed User:Agend460616 who would appear to be the same editor. Meters (talk) 07:16, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
The differences in the article indicate that the Kumar (comedian) version is probably vandalism (his step-mother was a policewoman in the original, but a prostitute in the newer version, for example). Meters (talk) 07:22, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

    Article Review

Is there a way to get an article reviewed faster or is it just random, thankyou. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AntiTankReg (talkcontribs) 08:13, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

There's nothing honest you can do to speed the review process – if there were, everyone would be doing it. But you could increase the chance of eventual acceptance, by adding some references to independent sources with significant discussion of the subject. Maproom (talk) 11:04, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

Synching reading lists on various devices

I use a number of devices to access Misplaced Pages

I enjoy the reading list facility

Is there a way of synching between / across devices?

(I have searched for this but could not come up with a tangible answer) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thetiesthatbind (talkcontribs) 09:18, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

Should he be called Dr. Martin Luther King?

Good morning. How would one change an article that is protected from vandalism? The article on Dr. King lists him just as Martin Luther King. He was actually Reverand Dr. Martin Luther King ( he earned that degree). He was also more than an American Minister. Thank you!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheDCDoctor (talkcontribs) 12:14, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

One wouldn't change the subject title because Misplaced Pages uses the name by which the subject is usually known. Qualifications are given within the article. Dbfirs 12:26, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
Two further comments. First, he didn't actually earn that degree. See Martin Luther King Jr. authorship issues. Second, prefixing a person's name with "Dr." is generally reserved for medical MDs, not PhDs. --Guy Macon (talk) 15:21, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
Presumably, Dbfirs referred (but did not link) to this entry in our manual of style. Tigraan 16:35, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
Yes, thank you for finding the link. Dbfirs 08:29, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

    Crop & modify images

If I want to take a portion of an existing image on commons, currently licensed under Sharealike 3.0 and crop it in order to highlight a detail and fit the context of another article - where can I find advice on how to make sure the resulting upload meets all the criteria needed, licensing and attribution, etc? Chaheel Riens (talk) 12:51, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

You could avoid the problems of uploading and copyright, by using the image as it is, with "CSS image crop" to display just a region of it in the article. For an example, see the picture at Mustafizur Rahman. Maproom (talk) 14:31, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
Got it - a bit hit & miss on the coords, but that did what I wanted. Chaheel Riens (talk) 15:23, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

    Lost visual editing

I switched a large sandbox creation to visual editing, worked for three hours and tried to go back to ordinary editing, but it seems like I lost all my work. :-((( 1) Is there any way to retrieve what is lost? 2) Next time how can you switch back and forth between visual and ordinary editing?

    Adams1peace (talk) 13:01, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

Edits which you have made and saved are listed at Special:Contributions/Adams1peace. If you didn't save your edit I fear that it's lost, unless your browser allows you to go back to it. To avoid the risking of losing work I would always recommend saving more often than after 3 hours, particularly if it's to your sandbox where nobody is going to complain about the history getting cluttered. Even for an article it's usually better to save in manageable chunks, so that if anyone needs to revert your edit they can revert one part rather than the whole lot. As to your question on the visual editor, I'll leave it to someone else to answer as I, along with many other experienced editors, don't use it. --David Biddulph (talk) 13:11, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
I see, looking at Draft:David Adams (peace activist), that you were confused by the button labelled "Publish changes". That is an unfortunate result of a software change by the WMF, the confusion being confounded by the fact that the instructions, such as in various help pages, weren't changed so some of them still refer to "Save" rather than "Publish" and the change wasn't properly explained. In the Draft namespace, the "Publish changes" button does not publish the page to the main (article) namespace, but merely updates the draft. When you want the draft to be reviewed you use the "Submit" button. Looking further at your draft I see that there are many misplaced external links in the body of the text. They need either removing, or moving to the "External links" section (but within the guidelines given at WP:External links) or converting to references, see the link Help:referencing for beginners which was given to you in the feedback on the draft. You need to deal with that before resubmitting your draft for review. --David Biddulph (talk) 14:44, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

Edit war on maths reference desk

Hi, I don't know if this is the right place to notify people but there is an edit war at Misplaced Pages:Reference desk/Mathematics (history) - Q Chris (talk) 14:41, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

Hi Chris, the disruptive ips have all been blocked since then. In the future, you could report edit warring at WP:ANEW and cases requiring immediate attention at WP:ANI. Thanks, Lourdes 14:56, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
Why only the IPs? The other two editors are experienced enough to know better, and unlike the IPs, had made no attempt to discuss the issue even via edit summary. Maproom (talk) 15:01, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
To be fair there is one edit summary that says "rv banned user on sight" and another that says "rv VxfC". Gandalf61 (talk) 15:23, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
Hi Maproom, I was just about to write the same thing as Gandalf above did. Probably multiple attempts by a banned user to edit. You could directly ask the blocking administrators if you require more information. Thanks, Lourdes 15:27, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
If there is edit warring (which is not clear in this case; see above), warn them with Template:Uw-3rr, and if the behavior persists after the warning, report them at WP:ANEW. --Guy Macon (talk) 15:29, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

Could I get a hand with a malfunctioning AfD submission please?

I trying to nominate Gale Force for AfD, but the fact that it's already been through one (where the deletion discussion might have picked up some warped formatting) seems to screw up the NPP send-to-AfD function. Can't seem to get it working manually either, and had to reverse out of two bungled attempts. Could someone else give it a go in my stead (in which case I will edit the nomination to clarify this problem, and add my nom statement), or otherwise figure out why it's not working? --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 15:15, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

You need to set up a Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Gale Force (2nd nomination) page. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 15:18, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
@Elmidae: I’ve created the discussion page (and tagged the article) if you would like to complete the nomination statement. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 15:29, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
@Elmidae: Perhaps enable Twinkle and then select "XFD" from the "TW" menu. Twinkle usually gets this right. -- John of Reading (talk) 15:23, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
Ooh, I just understood why NPP can't do that - unreviewed articles won't have a prior AfD discussion, and this one is only in the queue because it was recreated from a redirect. Didn't twig onto the manual "2nd" thing. Thankis guys! --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 15:50, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

    Draft not published

Hi there, I published this draft several weeks ago, and it still had not been approved. I'm not sure what I'm missing?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/Draft:Michael_Shanahan

Thank you, E. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ekennedy857 (talkcontribs) 17:59, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

No, you didn't publish it, you merely saved the draft. If you want to submit it for review, add {{subst:submit}} to the top of the draft. WMF caused the confusion when they changed the label on the button from "Save changes" to "Publish changes" (and in particular did so without changing the various instructions). --David Biddulph (talk) 18:02, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
Based on the page history and I actually think the change to "Publish" happened later the same day. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:52, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
(edit conflict)@Ekennedy857: Hello, you have saved the page in draftspace. Confusingly Wiki changed the 'save' button to 'publish' a short while which has lead to misunderstandings. If you consider that the page is ready for mainspace then you can place {{subst:submit}} at the top of the source and click save (publish). This will submit the page for review which may take some time.
However, whilst typing, the page has been moved to mainspace. Eagleash (talk) 18:08, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

When will I have enough edits to stop the Misplaced Pages:New_user_landing_page? I have verified my email account. And I have over 20 edits. I want to edit on a real page.

    I already created: Draft:Yuliya_Topolnitskaya

    Infinitepeace (talk) 20:55, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

@Infinitepeace: Welcome to Wikiepedia and thanks for wanting to contribute. I'm not sure what triggers that page, but based on the history, it looks like it is related to WP:ACTRIAL. You will probably stop seeing it when your account becomes autoconfirmed, which will usually happen when your account is four days old with at least 10 edits. Until you get experience, working in draft space is a good idea. Creating a new article is a difficult task for new users. RudolfRed (talk) 21:24, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
Yes, your account must be at least four days old at the English Misplaced Pages and make ten edits. You have the edits but only 2 days and 11 hours here. Your 6 days at mediawiki.org don't count. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:28, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
thank you both very much! Infinitepeace (talk) 22:21, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

    Wikidata for redirects

When is it appropriate to create a Wikidata entry for a topic that has an article in one Misplaced Pages but a section redirect here? See es:Bordillo (arqueología), which covers the same subject as en:peristalith (note the comment at the top of the Spanish article: in English, the first language in which the element was described, it received the name "kerb" or "peristalith"), but the former's an article and the latter's a redirect to a section of Megalithic architectural elements. I can't remember if it would be a good idea to create an entry that links es:bordello (arqueología) and en:peristalith. Nyttend backup (talk) 22:09, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

List of hyperlinks within a Misplaced Pages article?

Hello, I would like to know if Misplaced Pages has the ability to generate a listing of hyperlinks contained within a particular article? For example, I would like to be able to view a list of all the click-able hyperlinks contained in the 'Minneapolis, Minnesota' page - if possible, in alphabetical order. I know it might seem like an odd request, but would be quite useful to me.

    Thank you!

That's a nice functionality I too would desire. If I had had time, I would make s script for the same (unless any already exists; but not in my knowledge). In general, I currently use two methods. One is the longish method, where I click the "Edit Source" button and then do a <ctrl>+ "f" and search for "

    Article Redirected Again :(

The article I created (2/2nd anti-tank regiment (Australia)) has again been redirected to the wrong page. The 2nd Anti-Tank Regiment (Australia) and the 2/2nd Anti-Tank Regiment (Australia) are two different units and the article I created has been redirected to 2nd anti-tank which is wrong. could someone please help and undo this?, it would be nice if the page could be protected from this happening again. thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AntiTankReg (talkcontribs) 00:00, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

It was apparently moved to the wrong place when moved from Draft to mainspace. I've moved it. Protection would only be necessary if there were persistent vandalism. --David Biddulph (talk) 00:44, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

thanks david! — Preceding unsigned comment added by AntiTankReg (talkcontribs) 00:48, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

@AntiTankReg: If you think this could happen again, why not leave a helpful explanatory note on each article's talk page? Thus, any well-meaning but misinformed person who might think a redirect is in order would be pre-warned of the distinction. Others might also feel better guided in making a revert, should it still happen. (Oh, and don't forget to sign your posts with four tildes, like this: ~~~~.) unsourced fishing advice

What would you say to completely unsourced fishing advice in an article about a species? I don't want to chop it all out but alot of it is well... fishing advice and probably not encyclopedic? Appreciate any thoughts. Gabriel syme (talk) 05:02, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

My thoughts are, in no particular order:
    1. Advice on fishing/hunting do not belong in articles on specific species
    2. Misplaced Pages is not a How-to guide
    3. Unsourced content will be removed
    4. There's no such word as alot (my primary thought, to be honest)
    nagualdesign 05:10, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
Well sweet hot damn my friend that was fast! I'll chop that baby to pieces in the morning and see if there aren't any little encyclopedic tidbits I can find sourcing for, much appreciated! Gabriel syme (talk) 05:14, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
I was hiding in the sidebar disguised as a list of languages waiting to pounce. nagualdesign 05:33, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
To expand a bit on Advice on fishing/hunting do not belong in articles on specific species, this isn't always the case. If there's something specifically notable that's described as such in reliable sources with regards to the way a particular species is hunted/fished, it can sometimes be justifiable to include it—e.g. Misplaced Pages's Red fox and Pilot whale articles correctly mention hunting with hounds and drive hunting respectively. ‑ Iridescent 12:16, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
Appreciate the further points. I'm looking at the article Common roach, and from what I'm reading there's nothing inherently notable in the way they're fished. Thanks. Gabriel syme (talk) 16:32, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

Where can I make suggestions about improving Misplaced Pages's usability?

For example, the "Save changes" button has become "Publish changes". Who decides and implements decisions like these? Is this an open process that anyone can contribute to, or be involved in? I have lots of professional UI design experience and I'd love to be part of it. Popcornduff (talk) 05:54, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

Popcornduff, such things are chewed over at the Village Pump, which has several sub-areas for technical stuff, policy etc. New ideas are best floated in the Idea Lab section. Please do participate! Cheers --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 08:14, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
But that particular (confusing and poorly implemented) change was made by the Wikimedia Foundation, without any consultation with editors. Maproom (talk) 08:40, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
@Popcornduff: as Maproom says, it came as a surprise to most of use here on en.wiki, but is being implemented across all language wikis on the advice of the WMF legal team to ensure everyone appreciates that every single edit made here is actually published online somewhere, even if it looks like its just to one's own sandbox or draft article. You can see that discussion here, and it may also give you a few names of key WMF players you could contact, if you wished. I maintain my own list of suggested improvements which I add to when I encounter things that can be enhanced. Helpful to then be able to point others to a raft of suggestions. Regards from the UK, Nick Moyes (talk) 12:02, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the replies, everyone. I actually am not looking to make any suggestions about that particular change - just used it as an example of the kind of thing I was talking about. Popcornduff (talk) 12:05, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
(Wading in with a related observation): after one hits the "Publish changes" button there is a pop-up saying "Your edit was saved". Should that have changed to "published" too? Dorsetonian (talk) 16:35, 17 January 2018 (UTC)

Hello, Kasra tcme. That is how Misplaced Pages is supposed to work. Your next step, if you wish to pursue the matter, is to open a discussion with the other editor on the article's talk page. Please read about the bold, revert, discuss cycle for context. --ColinFine (talk) 12:13, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
The advice given above was to discuss your changes on the talk page of the article, not to make accusations of racism on the talk pages of editors who disagree with you. Misplaced Pages reports what is written in WP:Reliable sources, so if you want to put forward an alternative point of view then you need to find sources that support your view. alt-shift-v used to be the shortcut for Show changes, and that's still what the tooltip says. But now it switches to visual editing mode. I don't see a setting to change that in my preferences. Is there another shortcut, or do I need to file a bug? I haven't done that in years, how is that done nowadays? — Sebastian 11:40, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

For me in Firefox, alt-shift-v is "Show changes" when I'm editing. It's only VisualEditor when I'm not already editing. What is your browser? If I disable VisualEditor at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-editing then alt-shift-v is the Firefox view menu when I'm not editing. PrimeHunter (talk) 14:34, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
For me, using Windows,alt-shift-v doesn't Show Changes in Chrome or in Opera, but in both browsers it does indeed switch to Visual Editor. Doing the same Edit Source task in Firefox, then alt-shift-v cycles the screen round from the bottom of the page to the top. Nick Moyes (talk) 14:56, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

I am new to edits on this site (just created account for this purpose) so please forgive me if this is the wrong page to post on this, but I looked at the article on Thomas Tallis https://en.wikipedia.org/Thomas_Tallis and it appears to have been the victim of schoolboy trolling, what would be the proper avenue to get it fixed?      Not done Sorry, that's not how it works. We have no interest in what you have to say about yourself. If you are notable enough for there to be an article in an encyclopedia about you, somebody else without a vested interest in you will eventually create such an article. --Orange Mike | Talk 07:08, 17 January 2018 (UTC)

You haven't yet submitted the draft for review. When you are ready to do so, add {{subst:submit}} to the top of the draft. You may be among the many editors confused by WMF changing the button labelled "Save changes" to "Publish changes". It doesn't "publish" the page to anywhere but an updated version of the draft, and the software change wasn't accompanied by updates to many of the help pages & instructions which still referred to "Save". You may also find it useful to read the guidance at WP:Your first article. --David Biddulph (talk) 13:24, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
Hey CobraTrump01. I have added the AfC banner, and you may submit it as David says above. Yes, that's done the trick. --David Biddulph (talk) 06:40, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
@Jax 0677: (edit conflict) you're probably best off asking on the talk page for the bot. My guess is that it has to do with the code requesting to archive to a different page - the code wasn't updated when the page was moved from Talk:Cecil (lion) so the bot would be trying to update an archive which is now a redirect. Try updating the archive code and see if it starts working again in a few days. Ivanvector (/Edits) 14:40, 17 January 2018 (UTC)

List of current United States governors by age

Can someone with chart know-how fix List of current United States governors by age, there is a rank column that is carried over in the template that is not used, or actually even attached to the chart. --RAN (talk) 19:13, 17 January 2018 (UTC)

Hi RAN, are you meaning you are wanting the rank column completely taken out from the article? or are you wanting it fixed so it is part of the table? NZFC 19:25, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
Yes remove, it is sortable, so no need for a rank, it looks like it was carried over in the template, none of the other related lists have a column for rank, I imagine because it will have to be reranked by hand whenever a new person is added to the list ... best to just sort. See List of current United States lieutenant governors by age --RAN (talk) 19:29, 17 January 2018 (UTC)

It was showing |} after each table, but I've got rid of those by deleting the {{end}} templates which belonged with the static column. --David Biddulph (talk) 19:49, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
The static column is specifically designed for use with sortable tables, so that the reader can see the rank of each item as each sort option is chosen. List of districts of Nagaland is an example with it working correctly. --David Biddulph (talk) 19:53, 17 January 2018 (UTC)

    Items missing from my Watchlist

    Resolved

Why is it that my Watchlist is incomplete? For starters I have it set to show 5 days (and it says, "Below are the last 200 changes in the last 120 hours") but it only ever shows the last day or so. Today it only shows today's edits, and certain pages have an incomplete list of changes. For example, Talk:Frank Zappa discography shows only the last 6 edits, and the 2 edits that immediately preceded those were made in my absence, so it would be appropriate to display them too.

I assume this has something to do with the number of edits, since 200 is a round number. Is there any way to change this so that I can see all the edits made in the time period specified? nagualdesign 19:57, 17 January 2018 (UTC)

Scratch that. I found the settings in my preferences and changed 200500. nagualdesign 20:23, 17 January 2018 (UTC)

File not in use! What to do with it?

Hi! I've been going through today requesting deletions of broken redirects and then started going through the dormant not in use Files like images etc. What do I do with these and what templates do you use to get it erased if its not connected to an article etc and have been like that for a very long time like a number of years. Could someone shed some light on this process an example file is at File:GoldStarChoates.jpg and there are countless listed as unused, in my view they should be removed if not in use to free up space etc. Central · Python  21:21, 17 January 2018 (UTC)

One misconception is that deleting frees up space. Nothing is ever really deleted, it is just hidden from view of most editors. If you really feel File:GoldStarChoates.jpg and other files should be deleted you will need to open discussions using WP:FFD. ~ GB fan 21:27, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) I wouldn't worry about files that aren't currently in use unless they're non-free. There's no need to concern yourself with saving server space, and the images may be useful to Misplaced Pages or other projects at some point in the future. It takes a lot of work to upload images and there's no good reason to undo that in most cases. Plus what GB fan said. There's a note about this somewhere in the guidelines, though I can't recall the link. nagualdesign 21:30, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
So? What I'm doing is alright then? Like counter-vandalism, getting broken redirects fixed etc. I would like one day Rollback rights, New page rights etc. in the future. Feedback's appreciated. Central · Python  21:33, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
Requesting deletions of broken redirects is helpful, yes. Or better yet, fixing the redirects to point to the correct page, if appropriate. Requesting image deletion, not so much. nagualdesign 21:35, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
Two of the redirects you nominated for deletion had the correct target until two days ago. You should have checked the page history and reverted to that target. The administrators should also have done that but they are sometimes busy and don't check everything. Both redirects had an incoming link which broke. I have restored New Garia Halt Railway Station and Draft:Forest disturbance of invasive pests in the United States, and reverted them to the correct target. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:42, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
One more point, which should be obvious but it's perhaps worth pointing out: Making requests of any sort generally involves making work for someone else to do. If at all possible it's normally better to do something yourself. While identifying things that need doing is generally helpful, actually doing those things is more helpful. nagualdesign 23:27, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
Pages can only be deleted by administrators but if a user is just mechanically nominating everything on a list like Special:BrokenRedirects or User:AnomieBOT III/Broken redirects then it's not helpful. The pages should be individually examined. Administrators can already do that from the lists. If you arbitrarily nominate the pages for deletion then administrators may falsely assume you examined them and omit doing it themselves. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:47, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
    • Those files should be flagged for migration to Wikimedia Commons where they can be grouped and categorized for people to find them that are looking for them. The tag is {{commons ok}} --RAN (talk) 23:38, 17 January 2018 (UTC)

@CentralPython: You asked for feedback so - please note that your large signature is very annoying. Richard Chang

    Dear Misplaced Pages,

My name is Richard Chang. I am a frequent reader of Misplaced Pages, and rely on the website for a lot of general information.

Naturally, I entered my own name in Misplaced Pages's search field, to see if I showed up. But, to my dismay, when I did that, it redirected to this page about ASE Group in Taiwan. I guess a guy named Richard Chang is one of the founders.

But this is not fair, because there are literally dozens of different Richard Changs, some of whom are quite notable and very distinct from this Taiwanese guy. For instance, there's an Irvine based self-help/business author named Richard Chang, there's an actor named Richard Chang, there's a guy who used to work for the New York Times named Richard Chang, there's a public relations specialist from UC Riverside named Richard Chang, and there's myself, an arts & culture editor for LA Weekly. All different guys, all named Richard Chang. All worth separate recognition in Misplaced Pages.

Check out this site for more about all the different and talented Richard Changs out there.

I don't think it's fair that one guy in Taiwan gets the credit and redirect for the name Richard Chang. I suspect he's been trying to make his own Misplaced Pages page or force this redirect for years. I suggest you delete the redirect, or give users a list of all the different references where "Richard Chang" shows up, like you did in the past.

My Wiki username is richiechang2002. Thank you very much for your consideration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Richiechang2002 (talkcontribs) 07:14, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

Hello, Richiechang2002. Perhaps there are several Richard Changs who are notable enough for Misplaced Pages biographies. I do not know. I also see a physician who may be notable. If we had biographies of these various people, then we would follow established procedures for disambiguating among them. But we don't have those biographies. As for the Taiwanese Richard Chang who is the subject of the redirect, Forbes magazine says that he is a billionaire, so my working assumption is that he is the most notable of the world's Richard Changs. Solid evidence might convince me otherwise. Cullen Let's discuss it 07:30, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
Please be careful about writing stuff like "I suspect he's been trying to make his own Misplaced Pages page or force this redirect for years." unless you have very good evidence for it. While Conflict-of-interest editing on Misplaced Pages happens, the text about him in the Richard Chang article gives no hint of this. My working assumption is that he has more interesting things to do with his time. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:22, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
There's also Richard Sui On Chang, so I've added a redirect hatnote to ASE Group. Clarityfiend (talk) 10:11, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
Mr. Chang, hi. Please try to consider that disambiguation is just a technical thing; it has nothing to do with notability. There are, for example, about 10 million people called "Kim". Few have articles about them.
I suggest you read Misplaced Pages:An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing too.
Misplaced Pages does not care who is the most notable. It just cares if someone is "notable" or not (according to its own definitions of that term) - if they are, an article can exist; if they are not, it cannot.
Beyond that, then the only consideration is whether or not anyone writes an article about the person. But it's a REALLY bad idea to write one yourself; if you're famous enough then - eventually - someone will.
Misplaced Pages never claims to be fair; it just has reasonably logical rules. 86.20.193.222 (talk) 17:24, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

(edit conflict)*Seems to refer to Golden Hind (passenger train)

Please do not edit archived content of talk pages. As noted elsewhere, there is no trace of any draft by yourself. The conclusion drawn by other editors is that it is unlikely that the draft (if it existed) was saved correctly. Any editor is at liberty to create any content at any time (within Misplaced Pages's policies) and any article or topic does not 'belong' to one person (see WP:OWN). Please do not create threads on the same topic in multiple locations and take care when making accusations against other editors. In the absence of any link to your draft, sorry, but there seems little that can be done to help you. Eagleash (talk) 14:33, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
And see Talk:Golden Hind (passenger train), where the matter was investigated and the IP has subsequently made a legal threat. - David Biddulph (talk) 14:56, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
You didn't name the page here and your IP address has no edits before 2018 so the above editors didn't find the page. I have found from your other edits that it's about Draft:The Golden Hind (Named Train). The IP address 209.93.106.136 created it 24 November 2017 and submitted it for review the same day. There can unfortunately be a long waiting time. The draft was reviewed 31 December 2017. By then an article had been created at Golden Hind (passenger train) 17 December 2017‎. The draft was deleted as "Recently created article that duplicates an existing topic". That may seem unfair when your page was created first but I compared the deleted draft to Golden Hind (passenger train) (only administrators can see deleted pages). I see no sign of plagiarism. They are just two pages about the same train with content as different as I would expect from pages written independently about a topic with relatively little published information. Experienced users can create articles directly without a draft. If users create an article with the same title as a draft then the page creation screen tells them there is a draft. The pages were named differently here so the article creator was not alerted. They would have to search the draft namespace for "Golden Hind" to find the draft. I guess they didn't do that, and there is no obligation to do that. You say "someone else has deleted mine, copied it and renamed it". Draft:The Golden Hind (Named Train) was not deleted by the author of Golden Hind (passenger train), and the page is definitely not a copy no matter how the similarities and differences are evaluated. In you claimed "They are not different". That is completely false. Do you have a copy of the deleted draft so you can compare the pages? PrimeHunter (talk) 15:14, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
I was thinking I'd seen a deleted draft at the time of the original thread at the help desk but couldn't recall the location. Thanks. Eagleash (talk) 15:25, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

In addition to the clear POV, I strongly suspect that a bunch of the article is copypasta, probably from a copyrighted source.

I do not have the time or inclination to 'SoFixIt', so I am asking here in the hope someone else will.

The current article sounds like a tourist brochure, and does a disservice to Misplaced Pages; "a country village atmosphere, with majestic old forests", "very precious and extensive podocarp forest with abundant birdlife, and with many reminders" - it's a perfect example of peacock. But if my suspicions about CV are correct, and revdel is necessary, then that becomes irrelevant.

It's quite a nice little place, and very popular with tourists, so I'm sure the article is useful to many, and thus hope someone can improve it. 86.20.193.222 (talk) 17:08, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
