Since then YouTube has become one of the fastest-growing websites on the World Wide Web, outgrowing MySpace's reach according to Alexa Internet. In July 2006 several news organizations reported that YouTube had overtaken MySpace.

MySpace in popular culture

As MySpace has become very popular, it has sometimes been referenced in popular culture.

  • In "Weird Al" Yankovic's top-ten single "White & Nerdy", his lyrics mention that his MySpace profile is "totally pimped out" and people are begging for his top 8 spaces. The music video briefly shows his character's profile.
