Jayesh Bhattacharya, better known by his stage name Jaan Kumar Sanu, is an Indian singer. He is a contestant on Bigg Boss 14.
He is the son of Kumar Sanu , who is widely regarded as one of the greatest Bollywood singers of all time.
Life and career
Sanu's father, Kumar Sanu and mother, Rita Bhattacharya separated when Bhattacharya was six months pregnant. He was raised by his mother. He has two brothers Jessy and Jeeko. Jaan Kumar Sanu also has a step mother, England-based Saloni Bhattacharya and two half sisters, Shannon K and Annabel K. His half sisters used to live in England with their mother. Later, Shannon K moved to the United States to pursue a career in the music industry.
In an interview with The Telegraph, the 26-year-old musician revealed Jaan is his nickname and he has been called by that name since he is kid. Like his father he has added the name Sanu as family tradition.He said, "My daknaam (nick name) is Jaan. Growing up, people in the industry knew me by that name."
Jaan Kumar Sanu started singing since his childhood. At the age of eight, he released his first Bengali album Tomhra Shunbe Toh, for which his name was recorded in the Limca Book of Records for being the youngest singer to release his own original album. He has little or no support from his father He recorded several songs in Hindi and Bengali. Sanu also participated in a reality TV show Rin Mera Star Superstar in 2006. The show was broadcast on Star Plus.
In 2019, he debuted as a singer in a Bengali film Roktomukhi Neela for the song Shorger Chaabi. Sanu recorded in the remakes of Kishore Kumar's Chirodini Tumi Je Amar in 2016.
In 2018, he gained popularity for recreating his father's song on Dil Mera Churaya Kyun released by Venus. The music video received over 1 million views on YouTube within a few days of its release He recorded Kumar Sanu's song Akele Hum Akele Tum in the same year.
Solo Career
In July 2020, Jaan Kumar Sanu released his single titled Tu Sandali.
Bigg Boss (Season 14)
In October 2020, he entered the Bigg Boss (Season 14) house as a celebrity contestant. The show is broadcast by Colors TV and Voot.
