Template:ScientologySeries Mike Rinder is the commanding officer of the Office of Special Affairs International, a division of the Church of Scientology. He has appeared as an official spokersperson for the organization on television shows such as The Today Show, Rita Cosby Live & Direct and Dateline NBC.
Rinder is an Australian national who served in the Commodore's Messenger Organization. Rinder answers directly to David Miscavige, chairman of the board of the Religious Technology Center.
In November 1984, Rinder twice met with former Sea Org member Gerry Armstrong to find out what he was up to. Rinder falsely represented himself as being a member of a ficticious faction within Scientology management called "The Loyalists". Rinder claimed that they were disenchanted with David Miscavige and wanted Armstrong to help them. Unbeknownst to Armstrong, the meetings were videotaped by a hired private investigator. The recordings were later used in vain by Scientology defense attorneys to smear Armstrong as a credible witness.
