Wrong Map

The map used doesn't show complete India. The Gilgit Baltistan and Aksai Chin are considered part of India as per accepted Indian Map. Pranav Maheshwari (talk) 16:02, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

They are disputed territories claimed by India. 2001:8003:900C:5301:898B:4FEA:CDA1:CB8C (talk) 03:02, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
The "accepted Indian Map" is irrelevant to whatever the consensus of reliable sources say. India is not the world, there are other views. JM (talk) 23:56, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

“India” can refer to the entire subcontinent

I don’t know how to add citations in wiki articles, so I’ll post a source here:

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/India

First definition provides affirmation.

I’m not sure why this was ever in dispute anyway, to the person that reverted my edit. Why do you think it’s called the INDIAN subcontinent? Seth9719 (talk) 08:20, 28 June 2023 (UTC)

Dictionaries aren't authoritative sources. MrOllie (talk) 13:56, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
Merriam-Webster is a reliable source. Seth9719 (talk) 17:36, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
That link claims the first use of the term was in 1952, which is obviously incorrect. If you want to convince people to make this change to the article you're going to need a better source than a dictionary. In any case, we list alternative names in the 'Name' subection, where they can be presented with proper context and without confusing readers. MrOllie (talk) 17:56, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
South Asia has been suffering from Indian domination for too long, mate. As far as I know, a lot of countries are now using "South Asian Subcontinent" instead of "Indian Subcontinent" to describe this region. This is a correct move, hopefully, more mainstream media will start to use the term "South Asian Subcontinent" and eventually "Indian Subcontinent" will become a historical term.
Back to your question, no, Indian Subcontinent ≠ India. 2001:8003:900C:5301:898B:4FEA:CDA1:CB8C (talk) 03:09, 10 July 2023 (UTC)

Subcontinent or Bareazam is right pronouncing:-

Before the freedom of all countries in subcontinent or Bareazam or before it's division it is called "Bareazam". And it also a right word describe " subcontinent" . The word Indian subcontinent is totally wrong because it's name was " Bareazam" and is also called " subcontinent" to refer all countries when in it before division. Indian subcontinent name is totally wrong because it refers only one country India. It should be " subcontinent " because we're part of it too. 39.41.201.56 (talk) 16:27, 14 October 2023 (UTC)

"Indian subcontinent" is a widely sourced term. And is also the common name of the land mass. There is no point changing it. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 16:50, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
"We" who? This is the English page for a subcontinent. The word in your language is totally irrelevant. JM (talk) 23:55, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
