They're threatening to ban you for an entire bloody year at Arbcom. Absolutely f**k*** outrageous!
Show them your article creation list, Sarah, I think you probably have the record.
Sure you lose your rag from time to time - but don't we all, especially when faced with extreme provocation and wind-up merchnats....Gaimhreadhan talk17:46, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Wow! This project sounds promising. I assume Irish roads might also apply? Sarah777 (talk) 22:29, 16 September 2023 (UTC)
Yes. As noted, all of the roads articles on the English Misplaced Pages have been exported for future importation into the new wiki. At the moment, only the US and Canadian articles have been imported, but the others could be imported if there are editors interested in working on them. We haven't set up guidelines for that yet. Building a new wiki from scratch involves a lot of details, and it was enough for the moment to get 15K articles imported and working and a start on some policies and a style guide. Imzadi 1979  14:47, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
Should something happen in the meantime, we do have backed up copies of Ireland. --Rschen7754 16:30, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks - it sounds like a very necessary project given the wide scope that Mods and editors bent on trashing the site seem to have. Sarah777 (talk) 22:45, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
I'd be for adding Ireland articles to AARW but I think we should focus on cleaning up the US and Canada articles that we imported already first. –Fredddie 16:23, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
Fair enough Sarah777 (talk) 21:36, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
I've started a page at where interest can be expressed. --Rschen7754 01:49, 30 September 2023 (UTC)
Irish roads are covered at https://www.sabre-roads.org.uk/index.php eg: https://www.sabre-roads.org.uk/index.php?title=N25 Ritchie333 10:38, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks - I'm familiar with that website. Sarah777 (talk) 23:36, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
Just took a look the site again...excellent repository of Irish Regional road articles. Congrats to whoever is doing the work! Sarah777 (talk) 03:28, 6 October 2023 (UTC)

Request to collaborate on Ireland-related topics

Dear Sarah777,

I hope that this message finds you well. I am AndrewPeterT, and I am a member of WikiProject Tropical cyclones (WPTC) and WikiProject Royalty and Nobility. I am writing to inquire about potential collaboration on Ireland-related topics.

I became aware of you and your areas of expertise through some discussions I have read around Misplaced Pages. In addition, I have noticed that your posts convey deep knowledge and respect for the topics at hand. Although others may disagree, I find this passion healthy for building an encyclopedia like Misplaced Pages. (Moreover, I feel that you are one of the few editors on this site that I can unapologetically say this to, as I have recently received a lot of surprising pushback on Misplaced Pages for what I believe are routine debates needed to nurture an encyclopedia.)

Returning back to the topic at hand, I have many personal interests that have motivated me to contribute to Misplaced Pages, including tropical cyclones and monarchies. Due to commitments outside of Misplaced Pages, I have not been able to edit much in these subject areas as I have hoped, aside from copyedits and minor disambiguation revisions. However, I would especially be interested in collaborating with you on the following topics pertinent to Ireland:

  • When an Atlantic hurricane hits an “exotic” location (at least by my Wisconsin perspective), that has always piqued my curiosity. Ex-hurricanes that have hit the British Isles in particular fascinated me when I was younger. Misplaced Pages already has some great articles on notable “Irish hurricanes”, such as Debbie in 1961 and Ophelia in 2017. Moreover, depending on whether or not WPTC would object, I would love to create a list of all tropical cyclones that have affected Ireland and the rest of the British Isles in some way. Do you have any knowledge of sources that could help me create such a list (including anything from Met Éireann)?
  • Although slightly more polemic, I have recently become interested in the changing dynamics between Ireland and The Crown. In particular, I am intrigued by how gradual and partisan the head of state question was for the island. With respect to potential fields of editing, I have also noticed that the Misplaced Pages articles on post-1707 British Isles monarchs (at least from Anne, Queen of Great Britain to George VI) have very little coverage on how their reigns affected Ireland. Do you have a knowledge of any local Irish sources or databases that could be consulted to rectify this lack of information?
  • Finally, I have always wanted to learn about how William, Prince of Wales is perceived in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. I understand this topic may be too esoteric for a Misplaced Pages page. However, if a state visit his grandmother made to Ireland can get an entire article, I see no reason why these perceptions about William can not also receive some mention on Misplaced Pages if reliable sources discuss them comprehensively. On that note, do you know if any local Irish sources have published editorials or other content on William’s favorability around Ireland? I would happy to see any links because most major news media instead focus on what William’s itineraries are on his visits to Ireland.

Thank you for your consideration. Please feel free to respond if you have any questions or comments. I look forward to potentially working with you or at least receiving your insight.

P.S. At the expense of sounding slightly unencyclopedic, I am not sure if you are into Irish musicians. However, growing up, Niall Horan was my favorite member of One Direction. (Granted, this was because of reasons other than his nationality, but I thought I would acknowledge this because most of the British Isles singers I grew up with were from England.)

Sincerely,

Hurricane Andrew (444) 18:57, 14 October 2023 (UTC)

Well - I never rated myself as knowing anything useful about hurricanes! But regarding the British/Ireland issue, I am indeed a fountain of both information and opinion. Sarah777 (talk) 02:50, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
As for One Direction and Niall...what can I say?! Sarah777 (talk) 02:56, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for the reply. I will be sure to let you know if I would like more information on British-Irish relations when editing Misplaced Pages. Hurricane Andrew (444) 23:15, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
