Plot summary
Template:Spoiler When Earth's embassy on Vulcan is bombed, evidence points to the culprits being the "Syrranites", a group that follows a revolutionary interpretation of the teachings of Surak, the father of Vulcan logic. After T'Pol receives a clandestine lead, she and Archer embark upon a treacherous journey through the Vulcan desert to look for them.
Trivia
- The first question that Arev asks Archer to determine if his story checks out is "Who said 'Logic is the cement of our civilization, with which we ascend from chaos, using reason as our guide'?". This is the first question that the computer asks during Spock's memory tests at the beginning of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
- Soval said, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." This phrase was originally used in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
- This episode has a few references to the Animated Series episode "Yesteryear", and features the first appearance of Spock's pet outside that episode (this time as a CGI object).
