Davie "James" Farina (born July 22, 1983) is an American Italian science educator and Debunker on YouTube under the name Professor Dave Explains. Hes most known for his debunking and debate videos and his educational videos. he also a member the indie band The Lonely Wild.

Career

He received his bachelors degree in chemistry from Carleton College in 2005. in 2012 farina join the band The Lonely Wild as drums and percussion.

And on Jan 1, 2015 Farina started his channel making educational videos about chemistry, biochemistry, biology, physics and mathematics. In 2019 he made a video disapproving the Flat Earth conspiracy theory. Then in May, Farina made his first debunking video about the channel "Globebusters" called "Response to Globebusters - The Earth Still Isn't Flat" the video now has over 14 million views.

Notable debunks/debates

In 2022 Farina made a video about the trangender issue. then Matt Walsh made a response about Farina's video. Before Farina made his "response video to his response video". After Walsh's fans stared spamming Farina's comments, Farina commented saying "it was just a complete cesspool of alt-right toxicity, and I just didn’t feel dealing with it for my own mental health." He then turn off his comments on the two videos.

Also in 2022 he debated a Flat Earther David Weiss. The debate was heavily considered to be humiliating for Weiss, one part of the debate was Weiss saying "You think that we’re spinning at 1000 miles an hour, and we don’t feel it?" then Farina said "Why don’t you go ahead and get in a car, and do a 360 turn and make it take a year. Are you going to feel that?. Let’s break it down, 360 degrees, 365 days, that’s about a degree a right? Why don’t you get in a car and drive for 24 hours, and over 24 hours veer by one degree. Are you going to feel that?" Weiss "feel silence". the video when viral with over 4 million views.

in 2023 James Tour and Farina had a debate about "Are we clueless about the origin of life?" the event was livestreamed on YouTube with 2,800 viewers watching
