The local football team, Morda United F.C. were founded in 1951 and play their home games at Western Lane with a capacity of approximately 50, although legend does have it that it once took over 300 for a County Cup encounter between Morda and local rivals Heath Farm Rangers. They play their football in the Midlands alliance league and have sparcly moved from the division since they were founded in 1951.
Their most famous players include Colin Turner, Alan Richards, Derek Graham and Ernie Clarke; all are household names in the local area.
Their squad today however has had a recent revamp, with former player and now manager Colin Turner bringing in a lot of youth to the club in an effort to propel Morda up the leagues towards the Nationwide Conference.
Ex Shrewsbury Town F.C. players Elliot Eaton, Chris Catherall and Scott Graham have recently signed for the club, along with Elliott Howse who once plied his trade at Accrington Stanley.
