San Dimas was featured prominently in the movie Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, although many of the location shots were of various Phoenix, Arizona locales.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 40.5 km² (15.6 mi²). 40.2 km² (15.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.77% water.
