At the beginning of Season 3, Edmunds was Jack Bauer's partner, and hunted the Cordilla virus throughout the season. During the course of action, Edmunds was shot once in his hand and, later on that day, lose his hand because he attached a viral container to it, the purpose being to stop the virus courier.

Three months before the events depicted in Season 3, Edmunds began dating Bauer's daughter, Kimberly. When Bauer dicovered this, he was most displeased, but as the season wore on, Bauer came to terms that his daughter was his own woman, and Chase was his own man. The relationship came into bad times when Kim discovered that Chase had an illegitimate daughter, but they had worked their differences out.

In the season premeire of 24.4, Bauer mentions that Chase quit CTU (in all probability in protest due to Bauer's dimissal over a heroin addiction acquired in the line of duty) and joined a private security firm. Kim and Chase live together, and are raising Chase's daughter, Angela.
