West has had a successful career, playing for AJ Auxerre, Inter Milan, A.C. Milan, Derby County F.C., FC Kaiserslautern, and Partizan Belgrade. He has been capped 40 times by the Nigerian national team and played in the 1998 and 2002 World Cups. He now plays for a Qatari club.
Recently West has been training with Suffolk's mighty Ipswich Town, he hopes to play premiership football for the team next season and get them relegated from the division for a record fourth time. West added that it would be a great honour if he could be part of a team that bettered its own record of the league's worst ever defeat: "Yeh man, a double figure niling would be fanastic. From a personal perspective, I would love to score a hatrick of OGs".
