A square metre is equal to:

- 0.01 ares
- 1.196 square yards
- 10.76 square feet
- 1550 square inches
Square kilometre
1 km² is equal to:
- the area of a square measuring 1 kilometre on each side
- 1 000 000 m
- 100 hectares
- 0.386 102 square miles (statute)
- 247.105 381 acres
Conversely:
- 1 m² = 0.000 001 km
- 1 hectare = 0.01 km
- 1 square mile = 2.589 988 km
- 1 acre = 0.004 047 km
Square megametre
Square megametres are not widely used; however, there are a number of "megametre fans" who think that this unit is very convenient for measuring oceans and continents.
1 Mm is equal to:
