He was one of the favorites for the 100m at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, but finished only fifth in the final.
He later redeemed himself by breaking the 100m world record in Athens on June 14, 2005. He recorded a time of 9.77 seconds, beating the previous record held by American Tim Montgomery by 0.01 seconds.
