The sablefish Anoplopoma fimbria is one of two members of the fish family Anoplopomatidae. Found on muddy bottoms of the North Pacific from 300-2,700 meters deep, it is commercially important in Japan.
Other names seen in English include black cod, blue cod, bluefish, candlefish, and coalfish.
