It is also known as At the Copa after the first few words of the refrain. The song is named after its setting, the New York City nightclub Copacabana. It was recently developed into a musical.
The song tells the tragic story of Lola, a showgirl, and her lover Tony, a barman at the club.
The chorus is as follows:
- At the Copa, Copacabana, the hottest spot north of Havana
- At the Copa, Copacabana, music and passion were always the fashion
- At the Copa....don't fall in love
