"Crank That (Soulja Boy)" is the debut single from rapper Soulja Boy on his debut album Souljaboytellem.com. Its music video features Bow Wow, Omarion, Unk, Baby D, Jibbs, Rich Boy and several dancers doing the signature "Soulja Boy" dance. "Crank That" is currently No. 6 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 as of 12 October, 2007.

There are various remixes of this song which include artists such as Twista, Jermaine Dupri, Ya Boy, Money Mobb, Broken Equipment Productions, Cassidy, Jae Millz, Tone-Tone, Short Dawg, Travis Barker, and Lil Wayne. The Song Also Has a Hardocore/Screamo remix performed by I Set My Friends on Fire, a band out of South Florida. Soulja Boy performed the song on both TRL and 106 & Park on the same day in August 27, 2007. He also performed it on the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards at Kanye West's Good Life Party.

A popular dance, known as the Crank Dat, goes along with the song. While a simple dance with only a couple of steps, it has added to the popularity of the song. Originally choreographed by Kris Fetterman, a dance instructor in Pittsburgh, PA, it has swept the nation. Fetterman initially thought of the dance while incredibility intoxicated. He performed the dance once, then passed out, having to be revived by the paramedics. The rights to the dance are under Soulja Boy's name though. A tutorial of the dance can be found on Youtube, and is very popular.

Chart performance

"Crank That" is currently No. 6 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 as of 12 October, 2007. The song reached the summit of The Hot 100 on September 15th, 2007, where it stayed for two weeks before it was replaced by "Stronger", by Kanye West. It replaced the song again on October 6th, 2007, staying at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for another three weeks, making it a number one single for a total of five weeks, making it one of the biggest hits of 2007. There is an official remix of "Crank That" which features Jim Jones, Hurricane Chris, Arab, Rich Boy, Shop Boys, and Gucci Mane. There is also a cleaner version of the song and that version is currently being played on Radio Disney.
