He is also a founder of Microsoft's first foray into the video game industry, the Xbox. Allard oversees all design and engineering for the Xbox console, peripherals, Microsoft's multiplayer online service Xbox Live, as well as development tools for video game developers. His responsibilities for Xbox carried over to Microsoft's 2005 video game console, the Xbox 360.
He has recently come under sharp criticism and ridicule from video game enthusiasts for his complete image makeover that coincided with his role as a top publicity figure for the Xbox brand of products. Many think that his new image, (Earring, designer shirts with metallic accents, shaved head, in contrast to his previous partially bald crown and plaid wardrobe) is an example of Microsoft (And game companies in general) pandering to the superficial credibility standards held by teenagers.
