Hi--I'm going to post that guy's paper to a History of Seattle article. It'll be too hard to incorporate as is into the current Seattle article. Hello, regarding your recent move of Martin Fierro to Martín Fierro, please use the built-in "move this page" feature. Doing so will move not only the content of the page to a new title, but will move all the editing history along with it. Error in translating. Someseni was outside of the Cluj-Napoca city area, but was incorporated in it in 1989. The sentance to be translated was Aeroportul Someşeni se află în afara zonei urbane a oraşului Cluj-Napoca, într-o fostă comună (Someşeni), care a devenit după anul 1989 cartier de periferie al oraşului.Someseni airport is situated outside the Cluj-Napoca city area, in an ex-municipality (Someseni), that became a neighbourhood in the outskirts of the town after 1989.

Question

Joe, as a native of Seattle myself, I have to say two things. One is that I'm so glad you're expanding its history article! I think you're doing a great job. The second, though, is a minor quibble: why "Silicon Forest"? It strikes me as an odd heading, and is a phrase I've never heard applied to Seattle (and while I'm not completely hip, I find it odd I haven't). Is it a usage peculiar to you? At any rate, I'm suggesting we call it "Recent History" or something a little plainer, just for simplicity's sake: I just wanted to run it by you out of courtesy, and because I did want to thank you for the work you've done. I would think we can come up with something catchier than "recent history". "Silicon Forest" is moderately widely used. Google gives over 5,000 hits, though its hard to quickly sort out how many of those might be from the company of that name. Feel free to change it, I promise not to be offended.

In case you didn't notice, this is not mostly my material, its somebody's paper that was dumped into the site. There's still a lot of work to do. The man doesn't seem to even notice that a labor movement exists, this in a town that had a General Strike in 1926. But it's better than nothing, and it's a start. I still have to hit up the paper itself for his references, etc., but I'm busy the rest of the evening & will be on it tomorrow. Hack away, but I'd appreciate if you leave it to me to integrate the major "undigested" material that I'm in the middle of grappling with.

Joe, thanks for the quick reply! Well, I just must be less hip than I thought I was...it's a clever little name for this time period, so I think I'll leave it, seeing as it's obviously reasonably widespread. I will of course let you handle the undigested material -- once you're done, though, I think I'll jump in on this page where I can. I've taught Wash. State Hist. a few times, and can think of some little tidbits I'd want to add. Hi, I'm not quite sure what you're trying to do at Misplaced Pages:Misplaced Pages:, but do you know that Misplaced Pages:Utilities already exists. It seems your new page might duplicate this. Misplaced Pages:Utilities is linked to from the Main Page and from Misplaced Pages:Recentchanges so I can't see a way of making it more obvious than that. It's also linked to from two of the pages I listed here when you first joined, but for some reason you chose to delete those links with a rather rude message so perhaps you never went to those pages. If you want a digest of them, the only way to do this is on your user page, or a subpage of it. Most people here do that because everyone finds different links useful, so a digest for one person wouldn't work for another. Just go through the list and put the ones you find most useful somewhere like User:Jmabel/Utilities. Angela. 10:22, 18 Dec 2003 (UTC)
