The iPhone is rumored to be an iTunes-enabled mobile phone developed jointly by Apple and Motorola. The anticipated unveiling of the device will be on September 7 2005.

The phone is expected to be similar to the Motorola E398 but has an embedded version of the iTunes software that will enable users to buy songs and play them directly on the phone. It is likely to have 555 MB of storage capacity and therefore will be able to contain about 100 AAC music files (of approximately 4 minutes in length and encoded at 128 kilobits per second). The price per song is expected to be 0.99€ compared to 2€ or 3€ charged by other operators.
