Hollister Co. is a clothing store that targets 14-25 year olds. It is an offshoot of Abercrombie & Fitch. It is named after Hollister Ranch, located near Santa Barbara, California. Many in the Southern California surfer community have taken great offense to Abercrombie & Fitch's exploitation of their local culture, however Hollister has proven to be an enormous marketing success throughout the United States. Much like its parent, Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister sells somewhat predictable and traditional "preppy" clothing: polos, cargo shorts, skirts, jeans, humorous tees, and athletic pants. Hollister also is known for its use of sex to advertise their products (but to a lesser degree than Abercrombie). For example, pictures of scantily clad models appear in the stores.

Hollister is also a city in California. Though many articles of Hollister Co. apparel bear the phrase "Hollister, CA" or "Hollister, Calif.," the town is an hour inland and has no connection with the company.
