She used to be married to Kurt Cobain, singer in the band Nirvana (died in 1994). She has one daughter, named Frances Bean.
In her early career she modelled a 'baby doll' look, although this has since evolved to something more sophiticated-with Courtney having modelled for designer labels.
Courtney has attempted to begin a 'punk rock femme supergroup' during summer/autumn 2001 called Bastard.
Currently 'Hole' are involved in a law suit.
Courtney has recently (October 2001) performed in some solo shows as an opening act.
