How do I send a message to everyone from an AFD automatically?
I want to send a message to everyone who voted Keep on a recent AFD, to inform them of the merge discussion. Is there something I can use to do that automatically, it grabbing the user name of everyone who posted on the AFD page, and then allowing me to send them all the same message at once? - not that I am aware of, I would go to WP:VPT and ask.
There is outside software which will find certain instances of certain repeated text (such as signatures), see Web_scraping and Comparison of Web-scraping software, Mozenda is by far the best, but it would be easier to do it yourself then try to learn this program from scratch.- Give me the AFD in question and I will use microsoft word wildcards and then excel data filter to easily find all the names who contributed.
- I will use find and replace to create an easy wikipedia web address for each name, so you can email each person with two or three clicks.
There are programs like AutoHotkey, Macros which will allow you to email people in bulk, automatically for you, but again, to complex for your uses, because it requires programming and extensive time to debug.Ikip (talk) 16:57, 6 April 2009 (UTC)- The article is Ferris_Bueller's_Day_Off_in_popular_culture which got overwhelming support to Keep. - Microsoft word find and replace, with wild cards clicked (click more first):
- Find what:^13(*)\[\[User\:(*)\|(*)\(UTC\)
- Replace with: User:\2^p
- Excel: Advanced data filter.
- Word, find and replace, gets you this:
