Arthur Kemp is a writer and political figure from South Africa.
Biography
Arthur Kemp was born in 1962 in Rhodesia, spending his formative early political years in South Africa. Kemp worked as a journalist for the South African Conservative Party, which opposed the transition of that country to universal suffrage.
He was expelled from the South African Conservative Party in 1992 for opposing the party’s Apartheid policies, which he argued were wrong, unfeasible and immoral.
Clive Derby-Lewis and Janusz Walus were found guilty for their roles in the murder of Chris Hani in 1993, and both are serving life sentences. A list of names which Kemp had provided to Gaye Derby-Lewis (the third accused) was judged not to be not a ‘hit list’ as alleged, so Gaye Derby-Lewis was acquitted of all charges and released. Kemp himself was not charged. Kemp was fully investigated by the South African Police, who were monitored in their investigation by George Churchill-Coleman, the former head of Scotland Yard's anti-terrorist squad, and Mathew Phosa, prominent ANC lawyer, no evidence was found to link him to the assassination.
Kemp testified in the resultant court case that he and Mrs Derby-Lewis had had nothing to do with the Hani assasination and that they had merely cooperated in preparation for an article which compared the lifestyles of ANC and leftist leaders with those of their followers.
Kemp confirmed to the court a previous statement by both Gaye and Clive Derby-Lewis that he (Kemp) had provided the names and addresses which had then been passed on to Mr Walus. .
As the court record showed, Kemp provided the court with no evidence which the Derby-Lewis couple had not already given to the police. .
In his book, The Lie of Apartheid, Kemp also pointed out that it was Clive Derby-Lewis who had given the police his (Kemp's) name in the first place.
When Mrs Derby-Lewis was acquitted, the presiding judge, JA Hoexter, made specific reference to the fact that the reason she had been found not guilty was because of Kemp's evidence in court. .
Kemp and the Derby-Lewis have remained on good terms since the trial, and still maintain regular contact.
Kemp has written and self-published several books. He is manager of Excalibur associated with the British National Party (BNP) and is in charge of maintaining the BNP website.
March of the Titans
One of Arthur Kemp's self-published books is entitled March of the Titans: a history of the White Race. The front page of the website depicts representatives of the white race from Cro-Magnon Man, Spirit Cave Mummy, Nefertiti, Octavian Augustus, Alexander Nevsky, Queen Elizabeth I, Napoleon Bonaparte, Thomas Jefferson and Adolf Hitler. The book describes the history of white people from their earliest phases through to the modern era, and makes predictions for the future "dissolution of contemporary Western civilization through breakdown in racial homogeneity".
The book claims Greeks and Romans kept non-white slaves and that Classical Civilizations fell because elements of those societies became racially mixed.
Criticism
According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, Kemp is a white supremacist who has been active in providing some manner of support to the National Alliance in the United States, and has made a number of other unprovable allegations. The SPLC article has been changed at least six times as various parts of it were proven to be untrue. Kemp has dismissed all of the allegations as "total rubbish" on his personal website, saying they didn't even get his year of birth correct.
