The T-17 tank was a Soviet Union tank design of the interwar years. Under the three-year program of tank, as part of the plan, at least, provided for the establishment until December 1930 the battalion "pulemetok support," as termed in this document wedgies. Therefore, in 1926 KB OAT starts to work on the project for single light reconnaissance tank "Liliput". The project was well balanced, but demanded a special chassis and engine.
By the project back several times, but further discussion at various levels is not moving. March 3, 1928 under the leadership of the head. motor lab AP Kushka involving LY Lalmena, as well as engineers, S. Ginsburg and E. Grote took the protection of the new draft wedgies.
Chassis and powertrain
As a base for its use nodes chassis and powertrain prototype tank maintenance T-16. Hull was borrowed from the tank "Liliput". As the power unit used two-cylinder air-cooled engine, is like "half" of the engine T-16. Track chain was rubber steel.
Superstructure and armaments
Housing wedgies, which received the T-17 (often referred to as, like its predecessor, "Liliput"), was riveted to the frame. In the wheelhouse was located the driver, who was both a shooter with a machine gun, which was mounted to the right of the longitudinal axis (as was the gun option wedgies).
Testing
Making the first sample T-17 was delayed, and he was ready, only to fall in 1929. Despite the problems, slipper was tested run in January 1930, and then - in June of that year, and showed better mobility than the T-18.
Modifications
One of the biggest drawbacks wedges became single body. Therefore, one of the three tankettes ordered by the summer of 1930, had already become a double. The second version of the T-17 had rubber tracks of the Kégresse type. Series Production T-17 found it impractical, and it was decided to continue work on the double slipper with standard units of T-18.
