WP:ANI discussion

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. SchuminWeb (Talk) 14:37, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

June 2010

You have been blocked from editing indefinitely for attempting to harass other users. Contacting an organisation to try to find information about an editor is unacceptable. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Template:Z8

This user is asking that their block be reviewed:

Cy Q. Faunce (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

The editor already exposed his identity on his own talk page. Apparently, this is fine for him to do, but all I have to do is ask a university if the degree he claims is valid and I get banned. I got his birthdate from , his own web page. and his SSN from a public source (apparently he got a speeding ticket once, and they didn't redact the information). I did not expose this information to anyone but the administration at his alleged alma mater, who already had it.

If inquiring into credentials is a sin, Misplaced Pages is in trouble; its editors may not have the expertise they claim.

At the very least, User:SchuminWeb should be banned for outing me on Misplaced Pages, which I did not do to him. Anything else smacks of selective policy enforcement. Cy Q. Faunce (talk) 17:36, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Notes:

 • In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
 • Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.
Administrator use only:

If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, replace this template with the following, replacing "blocking administrator" with the name of the blocking admin:

{{Unblock on hold |1=blocking administrator |2=The editor already exposed his identity on ]. Apparently, ], but all I have to do is ask a university if the degree he claims is valid and I get banned.
At the very least, ] should be banned for outing me on Misplaced Pages, which I did not do to him. Anything else smacks of selective policy enforcement. ] (]) 17:36, 1 June 2010 (UTC) |3 = ~~~~}}

If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following code, substituting {{subst:Decline reason here}} with a specific rationale. Leaving the decline reason unchanged will result in display of a default reason, explaining why the request was declined.

{{unblock reviewed |1=The editor already exposed his identity on ]. Apparently, ], but all I have to do is ask a university if the degree he claims is valid and I get banned. I got his birthdate from , his own web page. and his SSN from a public source (apparently he got a speeding ticket once, and they didn't redact the information). Anything else smacks of selective policy enforcement. ] (]) 17:36, 1 June 2010 (UTC) |decline = {{subst:Decline reason here}} ~~~~}}

If you accept the unblock request, replace this template with the following, substituting Accept reason here with your rationale:
