Univac was the "business" computer division of Remington Rand formed by the purchase of the Eckert-Mauchly Computer Corporation in 1950.

In 1955 Remington Rand merged with Sperry to become Sperry Rand. Both the ERA "scientific" computer and Univac divisions were folded into a single division as Sperry-Univac.
