Masters and doctorate in music composition; several years of teaching students (undergrad and grad) in music theory, orchestration, ear-training, composition and various other things; some time spent as an editor of a music research journal: but now I make my living managing a GIS (Geographic Information System) department at a huge company. Stranger things have happened. I might contribute to articles in that field someday, but right now that feels too much like "work."
So far I have been focusing on Medieval and Renaissance music, probably because it's not too well represented on Misplaced Pages yet, and there are clearly a lot of good and knowledgeable writers working in more recent areas.
Anybody is welcome to leave a note on my talk page.
