February 2011

Welcome to Misplaced Pages. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at User talk:99.173.23.179, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. TJRC (talk) 07:03, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Emilia Carr

The article Emilia Carr has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:1event

While all contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ttonyb (talk) 16:34, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Emilia Carr

"I am if honest not comfortable either with the fact that this Afd was put on by a mass Afd/deletionist user as evident here by the users edits .. no disrespect but that is my feeling" <sigh> Is this really WP:AGF? My experience is that when someone moves away from the issues at hand in a AfD and tries to make the someone's edits a factor, they are really saying their stand in the AfD is weak and lacks substance. Perhaps you might want to read my comments in Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Appirio before making such sweeping statements? </sigh> ttonyb (talk) 17:58, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

Im sorry if you feel offended and if needed I will remove it. But I honestly feel veyr uncomfortable with the fact that a single user puts up so many articles for deletion in a sweep. And as I stated no disrespect.--BabbaQ (talk) 18:00, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
I have however removed the comment now for you. I just want it to be noted for you that I dont find it really appropriate method instead you should focus on give suggestion on how to improve an article. Because that is more often the case that an article needs perhaps more sources, or better structure to put articles up for deletion are often not productive in that sense. Peace out.--BabbaQ (talk) 18:02, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
Feel free to raise any issues on my talk page. Raising the issue in a public forum does nothing to strengthen your position in the AfD. Please do not assume I do not review and try to help articles before nominating them for deletion. Most articles are looked at in depth and where possible edited to avoid deletion. The articles that are nominated are done so because they are not notable nor can they be made so using WP:RS. If you review my edits, you will find that a very, very, very high percentage of the articles I tag for deletion are deleted. ttonyb (talk) 18:09, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
On a more positive note, I agreeing with you on the articles Afd that you raised to my attention just now.;) No hard feelings on either sides.--BabbaQ (talk) 18:10, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Renato M. E. Sabbatini (2nd nomination)

Near as I can tell, another editor accidentally reopened this debate (here), and then it ended up in the category and on the Biography AFD watchlists. It also explains why no one tagged the article - it was Kept last January (!). I've reverted their edit, though it's possible they'll re-nominate if and when. FYI. That explains alot!. Thanks--BabbaQ (talk) 14:43, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

The article Emilia Carr has now been put up for Afd. I believe it is yet another similar situation as with the Murder of Joanna Yeates etc etc..--BabbaQ (talk) 17:37, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
I am uncertain about the notability of this person. The reliable sources are local media only. Why do you feel this person would be of interest to the general reader? SilkTork * 14:34, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Emilia Carr

Thanks for letting me know about this discussion, but I'm a little curious as to why you chose to notify me - from the history, I haven't had any involvement in this article. In general, it's not a good idea to send unsolicited messages about discussions unless there's some particular reason the recipient might be interested; your post on my talk page could be seen as WP:CANVASSING. But don't worry about it, I can see you're fairly new here and we all make mistakes. Just something to remember in future. Robofish (talk) 00:24, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

Fair point, I wasn't offended by your invitation or anything. Anyway, I've added my comments to the discussion here. Robofish (talk) 00:39, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions

concerning this , it's very weak reasoning for arguing notability. for example, there are 12 million results for chicken rabbit, this does not mean we create a "chicken rabbit" article. please carefully read WP:GOOGLEHITS. LibStar (talk) 11:59, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

You could do with one of these...

Rebekah Johansson

It's confirmed by the Swedish IRS that she is dead. How can you not call that a reliable source? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Karbuncle (talkcontribs) 23:16, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Just stop it. If her death isnt confirmed by Swedish media it we will not be able to post it on Misplaced Pages. Neither in Swedish ro English. You will not be able to edit the article for the next 24hours anyway,.--BabbaQ (talk) 23:24, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Other people's comments

Please can I remind you to not change other people's comments, like you did at ITNC on the Israel attack nomination. You can suggest your own blurb but don't make it appear that the original proposer gave your blurb by changing his post. Strange Passerby (talkcontribsEditor review) 02:01, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

OK.--BabbaQ (talk) 02:01, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
On the other hand the nominator can and would probably contact me would he/she feel it was inappropriate. --BabbaQ (talk) 02:03, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
