List of Lebanese people

The situation over there is that, unlike our list, they do not have any rules nor a criteria for inclusion. Therefore, I do not have a motive to protect the list. What I suggest is that you check the "history" and contact the creator or the person/persons who have made the most contributions to the list and tell them to set up some rules similar to ours, making their list more manageable, first. Deletion of Puerto Rican images

As you all know, certain situations among which are included my personal health, have led me take a leave of absence from Misplaced Pages, however I believe that the idea proposed by Angusmclellan is an excellent one. Instead of nominating Puerto Rican related images by the masses, the images which have problems will first be listed in the page which I just created: Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Puerto Rico/Images with problems. We will be given more then sufficient time as a "team" to find sources and make what ever fixes need be in order to keep them from being deleted. This is a Wiki-community team effort regardless of who uploaded the image. I ask all those who really care about the images related to Puerto Rico to post the link "Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Puerto Rico/Images with problems" in your "watchlists". Your Third Opinion

Hi there. I am leaving this message for you in response to your requested third opinion on the Christina Mendez article. Unfortunately, WP:3O is probably not the appropriate place for such a request. It appears the user that you are referring to is in fact the same person as the article is about. I would suggest taking your issues to the conflict of interest noticeboard if you think the user is adding too much self-promotional information to the article. File source problem with File:VisaWaiverProgramMaltRevised.png

Thanks for uploading File:VisaWaiverProgramMaltRevised.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Misplaced Pages's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:57, 26 January 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 02:57, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Miss America

You're right! Thanks for the edit. Pr4ever (talk) 17:05, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Hello!

And thank you for your edits!

I'm discussing the Zoe Saldana article here. That user has asked me why Zoe is called "Puerto Rican", as though she's from Puerto Rico. I tried to explain that since Puerto Ricans are US citizens, the "American" was deemed to be redundant, here at Misplaced Pages. But then, why is there Category:Puerto Rican-Americans, with she in it? I'm a bit confused. Could you help us? If you'd like to torture yourself a bit, I recommend you read the discussion on that user talk page. :) SamEV (talk) 23:36, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

P.S. The reason I posted this here is because you're the one who added the Puerto Rico categories, recently: . SamEV (talk) 01:31, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

3RR Sonia Sotomayor

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Sonia Sotomayor. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Please stop the disruption, otherwise you may be blocked from editing. As stated on the Talk page and in edit summary - you don't have consensus for this change. Please stop and discuss. Speedy deletion nomination of File:DarrenMcGillis.jpg

A tag has been placed on File:DarrenMcGillis.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Misplaced Pages (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. ww2censor (talk) 05:38, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

What is "notable"?

In regards to your edit of the Puerto Rico National Cemetery article, what is "notable"? You have removed a Vietnam veteran, who was awarded the Legion of Merit. Is this award not notable? Are there other Puerto Rican solders who have this award and are buried in the PRNC?70.106.165.222 (talk) 23:44, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Category:LGBT people of Puerto Rican descent

Hi XLR8TION. You do not have to add Category:LGBT people of Puerto Rican descent for people who are already in Category:LGBT people from Puerto Rico. I created Category:LGBT people of Puerto Rican descent because the user Bearcat deleted Category:LGBT people from Puerto Rico from the articles for 15 LGBT Puerto Rican people who were not born in Puerto Rico. The two are basically the same, only that "from Puerto Rico" means born on the island. And the two categories are linked. Thanks!--Lawrlafo (talk) 18:04, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Toa Alta list of Notable people

It has come to my attention that you edited this section of the Toa Alta Misplaced Pages page and removed musician Felipe "Pipe" Cedeño Kuilan from the list. I ask why did you erase such a distinguished person. Felipe is an official musician from Puerto Rico con-decorated with multiple awards some of which come from the Capitol itself and whose hard work and long career have earned him the title of "El Presidente del Cuatro" I advise that you research further on a topic before making such a mistake.

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Misplaced Pages:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:49, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Articles for deletion nomination of Armando Riesco

I have nominated Armando Riesco, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Misplaced Pages's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Armando Riesco. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Undid Revision

Dude, I was Trying to Improve the PRican People article and you undid my rev here. I was inserting proper sentencing and grammar. The article is very informative but clearly has some grammar issues in the section I improved. Please feel free to correct it yourself, otherwise I still don't see a reason to undo my revision. Thanx! Quazgaa (talk) 14:01, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

  • Very Nice! My motto is to leave articles a little better before leaving them. Try to remember this before undoing some of the more constructive edits. BTW, Sorry for calling you Dude. My intention was not to insult but to bring some informality to my post. I apologize if any feelings were hurt Mr./Ms./Mrs. XLR8TION. Thanks again for the improvement to the article. List of Lebanese people (Puerto Rico)

Hello XLR8TION!

You identified yourself as a "principal contributor" to this list so I thought you might be interested in some constructive critisism.

  • Gildo Masso - Lebanese ancestry is not referenced or mentioned on his Wiki article or on the 2 sources provided that I can find. (Both links seem broken in my browser).
  • Gilbert Mamery - Biographical Misplaced Pages Article lists no references, and since the list does neither there is no merit for the claim of Lebanese ancestry.
  • Gricel Mamery - Biographical Misplaced Pages Article lists general magazine, television, and newspaper references without links or citations, thus no merit to the claim.
  • Charlie Masso - Lebanese ancestry is not referenced or mentioned on his Wiki article or on the single reference that is provided.

As for Sandra Zaiter, I added a good Biographical External link on her article which would help in providing future citations.

I hope these insights help to improve upon this list and these articles. QuazGaa 18:43, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

UBS

Hi - I did remove your text and think these are just not worthy of inclusion as being only tangentially related to UBS and therefore inappropraite due to WP:UNDUE. I also think your edits have WP:NPOV issues. Please note that I have incorporated material events that paint UBS in a less than favorable light including (1) the UBS tax evasion situation (2) the massive losses as a result of the mortgage crisis (3) the losses related to Long Term Capital Management, (4) the Holocaust unclaimed accounts. I have also kept what I believe to be material events (i.e., certain lawsuits). I think my edits are very neutral in providing a history of the firm. I would like to explain each edit in turn

  • Swissair - this situation is not even mention in the Swissair article. You wrote "UBS was portrayed as responsible" By whom? This is completely unreferenced and constitutes an attack against the bank and Marcel Ospel whom you name specifically. And why is this important? You wrote "the day after the grounding, thousands of demonstrators marched in front of the Swissair headquarters" not in front of UBS's headquarters. If anything this belongs in the Swissair article, but I have a hard time seeing this as a controversy worthy of note.
  • Healthsouth / Richard Scrushy - You describe HealthSouth and Richard Scrushy as a UBS client. From reading the articles a number of banks were involved with HealthSouth. You wrote "Three senior bankers at UBS, Howard Capek, Benjamin Lorello and William McGahan, testified for congressional hearings, but no one was convicted of any wrongdoing". First of all this is an issue of WP:BLP but also why is this important? UBS was not fined or implicated? This was a healthsouth scandal.
  • The $100 million penalty - you give no context for this text. Additionally your reference does not apply to the events you describe. If you want to build out something in the appropriate historical section, I would not be opposed but still don't see this as a major event. It was not covered extensively. See this

    The Limelight

Hi. I guess I don't quite understand your objection to having the designer's name in the section of the article about the Marketplace. At first I thought your deletion was because the names were wrong, but a quick Google found the design firm recognized in press releases and articles. Including the name doesn't turn the section into a "resume", it's perfectly legitimate: we routinely include the architects of buildings, for instance, and interior design is often acknowledged where such information is known and pertinent. Is there something specific about this inclusion that you object to? If not, I think it would be best to leave it in, as accurate and relevant information. List of Lebanese people in the United Kingdom

Hi. I saw that you reverted my removal of unsourced entries from the List of Lebanese people in the United Kingdom. I have removed them again because this is a BLP issue. Please see the discussion at Misplaced Pages:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard#British ethnicity lists, where it was concluded that all such lists should be fully sourced, with unsourced entries moved to the relevant talk pages. Opinion request

You may want to express your opinion on the subject if an article about Puerto Ricans in the US Space program should exist here. Tony the Marine (talk) 23:17, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

    Puerto Rican people

Hi. The edits you made HERE all appear to be from either self-published (www.stewartsynopsis.com) or otherwise non-RS such as blog commentaries (http://www.topix.com) and commercial sites (http://boricua.com). Also, the link for citation RE: 2010 census figures did not lead me to a page where the figures entered could be verified (also you may have overlooked updating the accessdate for the link as the accessdate entered on the day of the edits (Jan 19, 2011) is listed not as Jan 19, 2011 but as March 12, 2010). Could you review your edits THERE to ensure they in fact reflect what you intended, and that the sources are all reliable. Thanks. Mercy11 (talk) 23:04, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Yes I agree the article is being vandalised. Also Demographics of Puerto Rico has experienced similar vandalism. Another editor suspected a sockpuppet as shown HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE. Probably a good candidate for protecting an article would be if vandalism is occuring by several/many different people on ONE same article. If the same ONE user, on teh other hand, vandalises one or more article then the appropriate action would be blocking the user. That's my view. For now, let's wait and see what happens next. In my experience vandalisers eventually become victims of their own actions: either get tired of it, lose interest and leave, or realize that it's too many good editors against him/her and stop vandalism, lose interest and leave, or simply want to be disruptive for a while (maybe some sort of mental ailments I suppose) and, after drawing some attention, lose interest and leave. But they almost always leave before producing any real, permanent damage. Thanks for your note, and again I think either protection or a block would be in order soon. Full protection?

I declined your RfPP request, but I don't think you meant to request full protection. Full protection means only administrators can edit the page. I'm pretty sure you wanted semi-protection, which prevents IPs and newbies from editing but allows everyone else. Something to bear in main for future requests so you don't leave admins scratching their heads. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 05:40, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

    Consensus

It has been suggested that the "List of Puerto Ricans" be moved and renamed "List of notable Puerto Ricans". The current name reflects a misleading title since it is politcally incoreect and may lead to the misconception that any Puerto Rican may be included regardless of the explanation given in the introduction. Misplaced Pages does not allow that the term "famous" be used since that term depends on the perspection of what an individual may consider what the term "famous" means, however the term "notable" is widely accepted by Misplaced Pages since there is an established criteria of the meaning of the term and there are variuos "lists" in Misplaced Pages which currently use the term notable. Therefore, I am calling on a 7 day consensus as to the renaming the current list to "List of notable Puerto Ricans".
