MODEST GENÉ I ROIG (Sculptor)
Modest Gené is one of the most important artists of the twentieth century in Reus. He made religious images and sculptures of Arab or black men with European techniques, and was professor of the Art School in Equatorial Guinea. But Gené is still unknown. Modest Gené had two periods. The first one presents the most outstanding works that have in common three important issues such as women as a model of beauty, governors, leaders, kings and deities. The other period is based on biographical and evolutionary concepts. He received grants that allowed him to travel through Spain and Africa.
