Mar is an American philosopher specializing in Logic, philosophy of mathematics, contemporary analytic philosophy, and philosophy of religion . He studied under the late logician Alonzo Church and currently teaches at Stony Brook University. He has received Chancellor’s and President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (1993), the Alumni Association Outstanding Professor (1995), a Pew Foundation Research Fellowship (1995-1996), and he has recently been elected to Stony Brook’s first Academy of Scholar-Teachers (1996).
