Evidence

I'll take a look at the evidence tomorrow, I was unable to do so today. Sorry for any delay. Dreadstar 02:10, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Don't worry about it. I know you have a real life. I am working on other projects on this Wiki and others as well as real life projects. Thanks.--Amadscientist (talk) 03:00, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
In looking at my reply it dawned on me that you might have believed I meant "Don't worry about the problem"....I meant "don't worry about how long it takes". Just to clarify. Thanks!
Apologies, I've been a bit ill the past week or so and haven't been able to edit. Dreadstar 21:46, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
Alrighty, I went through all the evidence you provided and while there are some minor concerns over comments by others about others, there's nothing that rises to the level of personal attacks or incivilty. Nothing actionable in there, but some helpful advice would be to refrain from commenting on others - even if they're commenting on you, just put a nice note on their user talk page about it. If it continues, then follow the steps at Misplaced Pages:Dispute resolution. Don't edit war, go to the appropriate noticeboard and post a neutral request for opinions and possibly assistance. Remain calm and try not to take things personally. That's a contentious subject, so just keep that in mind. Try to laugh a little... :) I put my analysis on one of my subpages here, feel free to review it and ask me any questions you may have. Dreadstar 04:22, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. I appreciate you taking time to look into it.--Amadscientist (talk) 18:33, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

Moving the chart at OWS

(Received on my talk page)

Just to let you know, generally the policy at Misplaced Pages is for the images and info boxes to be placed within the section that they have context to. Your recent edit moved the infobox I created to a section unrelated. Could you possibly change that back to be consistant with guidelines?--Amadscientist (talk) 08:49, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

Yes, I know. However, the first paragraph of the section is very short, and it's unlikely readers would take the information out of context in this instance. The edit is just a layout edit, to make the article slightly easier to read. I'm not very concerned, and if you want to move the box down a few lines, then go ahead. Northamerica1000 08:54, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, that section has been copy edited and it does now contain the information in that section. I have struck out the comment on your page. Since you moved it here (I am aware how you like to keep your page clean) I will strike it out here as well.

Hi. When you recently edited Neoclassicism, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Classical period (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Occupy articles

From your post at Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard: "North...slow down and back away please so others can actually comment. I have tried three times and keep getting an edit conflict. At this point I kinda give up, but if this makes it..." (et al.)

Just answering specific questions and providing specific examples! Sorry that you experienced editing conflicts, but they do happen sometimes! Best, Northamerica1000 01:41, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

Don't know if this might be an issue, but you might check if you are listed as a member of one of the Christianity projects, and, if so, you might want to perhaps move yourself to "inactive" or remove your name. Like I said, I don't know if you are listed as a member of any, but that might have been an issue. John Carter (talk) 02:07, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
Oh, I know which project they got my name from. I just object to their use of those member lists in this manner. However, if appropriate, then I wanted to be sure and let them know not to include me in further delieveries. It was not something I was aware could be done. Thanks for the comment!--Amadscientist (talk) 02:14, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
Generally members of projects which share the WP:X banner template fall under the "umbrella" of WP:X. Most of the Christianity projects are inactive---we're just trying to get members interested in their projects again. We're gonna fix the system so it's easy and painless to unsubscribe. Sorry for the mixup and thanks for your understanding. – Lionel 04:24, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
No problem. This was clearly a good faith delivery of a newsletter that, as you say is under an umbrella project. My only question would be...do the other projects know that? I am also a member of project LDS. Is that a part of the umbrella? The reason I ask is that it is generally mentioned as "sister projects" so members understand the crossover and or limits to such. But it isn't a disaster or anything.--Amadscientist (talk) 04:33, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
LDS better be part of the Christianity projects! I think they would be pissed if they were left out, lol. Keep in mind the newsletter is the Christianity newsletter. All sub/sisterprojects/denominations are supported. But it is coordinated at WP:X. It's the same with the new Christianity Noticeboard WT:XNB. The NB is for all Christianity issues, not just the Christianity WikiProject. In fact, my home project is WPCatholic. Anupam's home is WPMethodism. The benefit of a multi-project newsletter is that small projects can have a voice, and the larger projects save on admin and overhead. If a subproject wants to do their own newsletter and opt out--that's great! But until then, why not use Ichthus to get their message out to their membership? – Lionel 04:51, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
LOL! Yes...they probably would be a little annoyed. That is a massive project from the sounds of it and it sounds like you guys are working very hard to get participation going again. I will also note that this answered a question I have been wondering about as to how these newsletters get delivered. I would hate to be the guy that had to manually deliver even 100 of them one by one! LOL!--Amadscientist (talk) 04:55, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Occupy Ashland (3rd nomination)‎

Currently, you're down as "Keep and merge". The two are mutually exclusive; you can't vote for both. If you want content kept at the existing place, you vote "Keep". If you want content moved to another article, you vote "Merge" Purplebackpack89≈≈≈≈ 23:28, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

Except the Keep is for the article and the merge is a suggestion for the future. I think you may want to leave others alone in this consensus as you appear to attempting to side step community decisions.--Amadscientist (talk) 23:40, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi. I saw that you've been working on the WP:WikiProject Merge page. It looks like you copied the directions from Help:Merging, then split it to Template:PMGGUIDE. In case you didn't know, WP:Copying within Misplaced Pages applies in all namespaces. The "from" note is a good start, but edit summary attribution is required. I will place {{Copied}}s unless you would like to practice. Flatscan (talk) 05:15, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

Thank you. I will remember that in the future. I will take care of it as practice.--Amadscientist (talk) 06:53, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi again. I noticed that you are not including a link back to the source article when doing merges. For example, Merged per AFD discussion would be better as Merged from ] per AFD discussion. I made the appropriate dummy edit. Also, {{Copied}}'s from_oldid should point to the source article. I fixed one as an example. Flatscan (talk) 05:29, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Merging and Articles for Deletion

Mad scientist, it's best to put merge proposals on hold during an articles for deletion discussion. The mere existence of such a discussion tells you that some editors don't see any content worth merging, and the only AfD results that allow the merge to proceed are merge and no consensus. I commented on this at Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Merge. D O N D E groovily Talk to me 13:32, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

Hold on there. I didn't merge the article, I selectively added information to an article about her husband the vice president. What is wrong with that. Is an AFD on the proposed article enough to keep editors adding content to another article? I don't think so.--Amadscientist (talk) 14:08, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

Merging procedures

Hi. :) I appreciate all the work you're doing merges, but wanted to remind you that there is an essential step for attribution: providing a direct link to the article from which you are copying in your edit summary. This is the one step that should not be omitted; the history of the article needs to include this link. As Help:Merging notes, "Save both, and note the merger (including the page names) in the edit summaries. (This step is required in order to conform with Misplaced Pages's licensing requirements. Do not omit it nor omit the page name.)" I see that you've done it with some merges (, ), but not others (, ).

Can you please go back to those articles into which you've merged content without a link in edit summary and add them, as recommended at Misplaced Pages:Copying within Misplaced Pages#Repairing insufficient attribution, by using a dummy edit? I usually use text something like Content merged on date from ], see talk for attribution detailed. That will help people find the precise diff. --Moonriddengirl 12:27, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

Thank you Moonriddengirl. I understand the mistake made and have begun using the attribution requirement in the edit summary as stated and have looked into the dummy edit procedures but have not had the time to attempt it yet. I was given this information by User:Flatscan who also noticed I was using the wrong oldid number and corrected it and the edit summary and left me links to. He has been incredibly helpful and all the information is being shared as part of WP:PMG. Thanks!--Amadscientist (talk) 22:19, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 backlog elimination drive update

GOCE March 2012 Backlog Elimination progress graphs

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 Backlog elimination drive! Here's the mid-drive newsletter.

Participation: We have had 58 people sign up for this drive so far, which compares favorably with our last drive, and 27 have copy-edited at least one article. If you have signed up but have not yet copy-edited any articles, please consider doing so. Every bit helps! If you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Join us!

Progress report: Our target of completing the 2010 articles has almost been reached, with only 56 remaining of the 194 we had at the start of the drive. The last ones are always the most difficult, so thank you if you are able to help copy-edit any of the remaining articles. We have reduced the total backlog by 163 articles so far.

Special thanks: Special thanks to Stfg, who has been going through the backlog and doing some preliminary vetting of the articles—removing copyright violations, doing initial clean-up, and nominating some for deletion. This work has helped make the drive a more pleasant experience for all our volunteers.

Mediation Cabal: Request for participation

Dear Amadscientist: Hello. This is just to let you know that you've been mentioned in the following request at the Mediation Cabal, which is a Misplaced Pages dispute resolution initiative that resolves disputes by informal mediation.

The request can be found at Misplaced Pages:Mediation Cabal/Cases/16 March 2012/Occupy Wall Street.

Hello,

I just nominated the article on Stephen Moorer for deletion, and noticed that you had attempted this before. I don't feel that Misplaced Pages is the place for subjects that are only noteworthy to a regional audience and not Misplaced Pages in general. Whacking with a wet trout or trouting is a common practice on Misplaced Pages when experienced editors slip up and make a silly mistake. It, along with sentencing to the village stocks, is used to resolve one-off instances of seemingly silly behavior amongst normally constructive community members, as opposed to long term patterns of disruptive edits, which earn warnings and blocks.

Example

Whack! The above is a WikiTrout (Oncorhynchus macrowikipediensis), used to make subtle adjustments to the clue levels of experienced Wikipedians. To whack a user with a wet trout, simply place {{trout}} on their talk page.

GOCE March drive wrap-up

Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 backlog elimination drive
GOCE March 2012 Backlog Elimination progress graph

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 Backlog elimination drive! This is the most successful drive we have had for quite a while. Here is your end-of-drive wrap-up newsletter.

Participation

Of the 70 people who signed up for this drive, 40 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Special acknowledgement goes out to Lfstevens, who did over 200 articles, most of them in the last third of the drive, and topped all three leaderboard categories. You're a superstar! Stfg and others have been pre-checking the articles for quality and conformance to Misplaced Pages guidelines; some have been nominated for deletion or had some preliminary clean-up done to help make the copy-edit process more fun and appealing. Thanks to all who helped get those nasty last few articles out of the target months.

Progress report

During this drive we were successful in eliminating our target months—October, November, and December 2010—from the queue, and have now eliminated all the 2010 articles from our list. We were able to complete 500 articles this month! End-of-drive results and barnstar information can be found here.

When working on the backlog, please keep in mind that there are options other than copy-editing available; some articles may be candidates for deletion, or may not be suitable for copy-editing at this time for other reasons. The {{GOCEreviewed}} tag can be placed on any article you find to be totally uneditable, and you can nominate for deletion any that you discover to be copyright violations or completely unintelligible. If you need help deciding what to do, please contact any of the coordinators.

Thank you for participating in the March 2012 drive! All contributions are appreciated. Our next copy-edit drive will be in May.

Dispute resolution survey

Dispute Resolution – Survey Invite

Hello Mark Miller. I am currently conducting a study on the dispute resolution processes on the English Misplaced Pages, in the hope that the results will help improve these processes in the future. Whether you have used dispute resolution a little or a lot, now we need to know about your experience. The survey takes around five minutes, and the information you provide will not be shared with third parties other than to assist in analyzing the results of the survey. No personally identifiable information will be released.

Misplaced Pages:99% redirct

Can you point me to the discussion where it was agreed that this was a suitable redirect for the OWS wiki project ? Mtking 10:40, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

There was none. I set up the redirect, but if you object for any reason it can be discussed on the talk page of the project. If no one objects I will not object to it being given up.--Amadscientist (talk) 21:45, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

(This barnstar was retracted by the giver and this post deleted.)

The Surreal Barnstar
Thanks for taking the "hot potato" once I willfully disregarded the consequences of resurrecting the most powerful & most important (for getting Obama re-elected) Wikiproject known to the 99%. See HERE where it says in no uncertain terms, "Obama’s advisers say they plan to harness this frustration in the presidential campaign by drawing a contrast with Republican candidates who favor rolling back the Dodd-Frank legislation." and could not be any better (or any worse, if you're disheartened/disillusioned) due to this God damned poll which says Obama is down by 2%. I entrust all of my fellow wiki-editors to know the inherent truth behind recent 2012 rumors (backed by search results) of "occupy co-opted" or "occupy cooptation" or "occupy leadership change" etc... That WaPo article was dated November 6th 2012' and I hope my cover is blown now, in no uncertain terms, that if we the OWS sympathizers can "gently encourage" Obama's reelection, then we can do the same shit to Republicans as they did to us in 2010? In case you forgot, remember how frustrating it was when Obama's stimulus package failed horribly because Republicans in the senate & house (during filibuster-proof majority) gave us a stimulus package that was too small. 787 billion was way too small for our 2.8 trillion dollar national economy. We needed a stimulus at least twice as big, and we got screwed by the 1% who lobbied republicans into breaking Obama's neck and extending the Bush tax cuts by an extra two years. I give no excuse (as you busted my chops here on your talk page about me being pro-OWS, and I assume you are as well...

Which leaves me to my final question. Are the "sheeple" (sheep-people) who are pro-OWS at least ~85ish% convertible into voting for Obama? If so, then Obama will get reelected. If Obama's political geniuses cannot "harness the frustration" of OWS supporters on or about November 6th 2012, then we are fixing to get blamed for the economy (which was Bush's fault), get blamed for high unemployment (which was Bush's fault), get blamed for high gas prices (which was Bush's fault), and get blamed for the high national debt/deficit (which Obama can eliminate if we simply tax millionaires the same rate as their secretary!). I chose to deliver this message on your userpage because you are one of my skeptics. Yes, I am pro-OWS; but, now I'm urging you to recognize that it's just been a mask to co-opt a reelection strategy for Obama. If you don't think Misplaced Pages can influence "sheeple" then click here but I'm sure you know the impact Misplaced Pages, OWS, and Obama can have on our horrible country which is simply a ponzi scheme for the 1% to get rich at our expense. They have nice houses, nice yachts, beautiful wives, and only via wealth redistribution does anyone in the 99% have a chance of getting our fair share of the immense wealth of the 1%, especially Mr. Romney's $300 million stash which he stole from Wall Street.

I want you to be the most active Wikipedian and deliver at a minimum of 20 edits per day, all of which are modest/humble in length, and full of "win." 완젬스 (talk) 22:53, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Thankyou for the barnstar :-) and you've done a great job at WP:OWS! I've joined up to see if i can lend a hand. benzband (talk) 08:51, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Malware report

Since you are getting error messages from a site other than lds.org - I would suggest that you look for something on your computer (or your DNS service) that is redirecting DNS requests from the proper website lds.org to an improper one themormonworker.org - as I have had no problems with lds.org as reported by the other users. --Trödel 13:40, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

No, the report was a mistake and has been stricken. I clicked the wrong reference when checking after an edit and hit the mormonworker.org reference which was next to the primary reference which I believe was lds.org. I have removed the section that was devoted to the improper link as having no context to the article and the bad link which is malware.--Amadscientist (talk) 18:58, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Pending barnstar

Can you make an OWS-themed barnstar? I have somebody I wish to give the first one to... 완젬스 (talk) 17:37, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) He already has (and a good one too) take a look at {{WP OWS barnstar}} benzband (talk) 17:45, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Wow, that's so good! 완젬스 (talk) 19:51, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
