Howden Joinery Group plc ('the Group'), which is listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSEHWDN) and is a member of the FTSE 250 index, is the owner of the Howden Joinery business ('Howdens'). The Group has existed in its current form since October 2006, when the then MFI Furniture Group sold the MFI retail business to MEP Mayflower Ltd. Following this disposal, the Group was known as Galiform plc, until it was changed to its current name in September 2010.

Howdens sells integrated kitchen and joinery products, including Lamona integrated domestic appliances, which are exclusive to the business, from stock, primarily to small local builders. It is a trade only business and does not sell to retail customers, although around 75% of its kitchen sales are installed in owner occupiers' homes. The rest of its sales are primarily installed in private and public rented accommodation.

The business was started in the autumn of 1995. Its main operations are in Great Britain, where its 500th depot was opened in 2011. It also has a small number of depots in Paris and northern France, where it trades as Houdain Menuiseries.

The business operates two manufacturing plants, in Runcorn, Cheshire, and Howden, East Yorkshire. It also has a warehouse operation in Northampton.
