Joel Defries is the British-born C4 presenter. He started off at alternative radio station Channel Z, before he went on to host the music jukebox show "Select Live". He was one of the twelve finalists for the "Cleo Bachelor of the Year" in 2005. He has a huge teen following in New Zealand, and has also featured in the "Best Dressed List".

Joel is considered as one of the most promising acts in New Zealand, he has appeared on multiple shows and magazines, and continues to rise the ranks of New Zealand television.

A well-known obsessive Keane fanatic (rumours abound that his room is a shrine to the lead singer Tom Chaplin), Joel also enjoys the fashion stylings of the notroious rapper T-Pain, the dental work of Little Jon (minus his East Side Boyz) and the vocal stylings of James Blunt.

A quoted ambition of Joel is to be more hip hop than DJ Sirvere, more 'indy' than Camilla and to ever so slowly... make Clarke obsolete!
