Neonazism refers to any political movement which seeks to revive or implement a government based on Nazism. Neonazi movements are generally anti-semitic, racist, and xenophobic. They are generally supported by groups under economic stress who blame their problems on immigrants and a presumed Jewish conspiracy, and most neonazi groups attempt to deny the existence of the Holocaust. Because of their aspousal of violence, neonazi are of concern to law enforcement in spite of their generally small numbers.

In Germany immediately after World War II, Allied forces and the new German governments attempted to prevent the creation of Neonazi movements through the process known as denazification. Because of this process and because of the total defeat of the Nazis, there was little over Neonazi activity in Europe until the 1960's.
