Iontophoresis is a process in which the galvanic current allows the penetration of drugs applied to skin into the deeper tissues .
Anode iontophoresis is used for compounds bearing positive charge and cathode iontophoresis for the negatively charged compounds.the force of repulsion between similar charge drives the drug ion the deeper tissues. SALICYLATES have been used in this method.
Ionotophoresis is a process of reducing sweat in parts of the body by placing them underwater, and then targeting the areas with an electric current.
Excessive sweating, hyperhidrosis, can also be treated using drugs or counselling.
