Angie Goff (born March 17,1980 in Seoul, South Korea) is an American broadcast journalist based in Washington D.C.. From 2007-2011 she worked at CBS affiliate WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C.. Goff joined WRC-TV (locally known as "NBC4" or "NBC Washington") as a weekend morning anchor in September 2011. Goff also writes the popular blog OhMyGoff known for showcasing viewer generated content.
History
Goff was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. She spent most of her childhood and teenage years there, and attended the Seoul American High School for her freshman and sophomore years, where she played guard on the basketball team.
Her career started as a child in Korea, when her father would turn on the only English channel each morning and night for the news. The local broadcasts were produced on the base, and in the fifth grade she befriended the daughter of the station’s anchor. After taking a tour, “I was totally captivated and I became obsessed,” Goff says. She auditioned for the Audio-Visual club at school and became part of the school broadcast each morning. She eventually persuaded her teacher to let her interview students on various topics. .
In 1995, she moved to Herndon, Virginia and graduated from Herndon High School, where she was senior class president . She earned a Bachelors of Arts degree from George Mason University, where she joined the fraternity Alpha Omicron Pi . Goff worked at JCrew during college. She planned to become a rocket scientist and attend West Point. She only seriously considered a career in journalism when she was rejected from the United States Military Academy at West Point. “ I thought I would be a general or some rocket scientist in the military. I was only able to follow my passion and my dream when that door closed” .
Career
Her first job in television reporting for public-access television cable TV station Torrance CitiCable while living in Los Angeles, California. During this time Goff served as the personal assistant to Entertainment Tonight anchor Mark Steines. Next Goff also served as a morning anchor and reporter for CBS affiliate KMEG-TV in Sioux City, Iowa. From 2004 -2007 she next worked in Columbia South Carolina at WIS-TV where she was a news anchor and reporter. While at the Columbia, South Carolina station Goff won a regional Emmy Award.
She moved to the larger DC market to became traffic anchor for the Washington DC CBS affiliate WUSA-TV in October 2007. Her contract was not renewed in summer 2011.
In November 2010, Goff joined DC radio station WVRX, locally known as "105.9 The Edge", as a member of the "Kirk and Mike" morning show hosted by Mike O'Meara and Kirk McEwen..
Goff joined WRC-TV (locally known as "NBC4" or "NBC Washington") as a weekend morning anchor in September 2011 .
Goff also writes the popular blog OhMyGoff known for showcasing viewer generated content.
According to Capitol File Magazine, Goff's website, ohmygoff.tv ranked #2 in Washington, D.C. for top blogs in 2010. Washington Life Magazine named Goff as one of the capital's most influential under 40 residents two years in a row.
Personal life
In 2007 she became engaged to South Carolina pediatric dentist Robert Ellis III In early July 2010, announced on her website that she was expecting her first child . On December 2, 2010, Goff gave birth to daughter, Adora Kate. In January 2013 Goff anounced her second pregnancy ; and that is was a son . The couple's son Robert IV was born on May 31,2013 and weighed 9 pounds .
