The Rt Rev.James Njegovan is the current Bishop of Brandon.

Career

He was educated at St. John's College, University of Manitoba and ordained in 1979. He served parishes in Winnipeg before becoming Dean of Brandon Cathedral in 1992, a post he held until his elevation to the Episcopate. He was consecrated bishop in Brandon Cathedral on February 2, 2002.

Controversy

In April of 2013, Bishop Njegovan's son Archdeacon Noah Njegovan, 30, was criminally charged with fraud over $5000. Having been appointed by his father to this senior post in the Diocese of Brandon, Noah Njegovan is alleged to have embezzled nearly $200,000 from the dicoese.

Bishop Njegovan also drew international attention to himself when he pronounced an episcopal edict declaring that no parish in his diocese was permitted to subscribe to or distribute The Anglican Planet, an independent newspaper serving the Anglican Church of Canada.
