Factorio is an upcoming indie video game by Slpwnd. It is scheduled to be released for Windows, Linux and OS X.
Development
The game is being developed by a team of three developers from Prague since mid 2012. To fund the game, they started an Indiegogo campaign. It started on 31 March 2013 and finished on 3 March 2013. Rewards for backers included access to the alpha release, votes for development polls, additional scenarios, digital wallpapers, chat with the developers and name in the game or credits. The game raised €21,626 of €17,000 goal.
The success on Indiegogo allowed developers to hire a new member. The game was also made avaible for preorder with alpha access.
Gameplay
The game is an isometric mix of Action video game and Realtime strategy game video game that resembles in some way Minecraft. The player's character has to look for resources to build machines that help him survive. Some resources have to be turned into more advanced materials before they can be used. The player has to build a working factory. This factory allows him to create new items and more developed machines. There is also a surviving element as the player can come across enemy creatures. He can defend himself with weapons. There are also goals in every level that player has to achieve.
