I just want to say you are doing a great job of taking the workload of working on the lede in the Second Amendment article. Im making quibbles to make improvements that I see, but I do not want you to interpret that as anything other than collaboration - you are doing the tough job of proposing text, and getting shot down by everyone else :). I think the various revisions are noticeably better from revision to revision, and we are narrowing in on something that everyone can agree to. Gaijin42 (talk) 16:59, 14 August 2013 (UTC) |

Remington
Unfortunately my "edit" of the remington NMA article didn't really come across as intended. The system has greatly complicated uploading pictures and somehow, the caption didnt' make it to the article. Basically, the picture shows a 45 colt R&D conversion cylinder group at 12 0'clock and a ball/fffg group to the right both fired one-handed from 25 yards. User:Michael E. Notice of Edit warring noticeboard discussion
Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Misplaced Pages's policy on edit warring. Thank you.
Thanks for mentioning me
I don't mind at all. In fact I was delighted you mentioned me. I don't like heavy handed editing and that's what I saw on that page. And that's why this matter reached the administrator's desk and now on Jimbo Wales page. I have this thing for porn actors you see... they fascinate me to a great extent and I just love them. So for them appearing in mainstream films is a very novel idea and this page showcased that. We should see them acting more in good films. I actually consulted this page quite a lot and checked films from there. Now when someone comes up with a BLP policy and deletes it in one strike and never allows reinstating it, now that runs against our motto of being a collective work. So I had to make a point. Anyway, you don't see me a lot because I don't take part in discussions. I think it ruins one's spirit and is a very poisonous atmosphere. I just keep on editing and not taking things personally. They delete a page I launched, I try to save it once, just once. If they insist further, let them delete and have their way. No one article however important is worth the risk of jeopardizing your edit history. Just let them have it and cancel it. I create ten others instead... twenty more.... Thirty more...
A few things on this occasion. Since you mentioned me on the Jimbo page, I made a point of adding a cute new section there called User talk:Jimbo Wales#"Knowing"_someone_through_Wikipedia . It is there because you mentioned me as a celebration of sorts... just to say here I am... Second: Since we are talking about porn actors in other genres, take a listen to Arash Labaf featuring amongst others a porn actress as vocals and as video feature. Arash said he loved her voice a lot and wanted to put her in his song. She is a Norwegian porn star called Aylar Lie. Listen to "Dasa Bala" by Arash featuring Aylar. Of course comments littered his page with disparaging comments for her... Third: Since you love the banjo, here is a very recent hit in Norway and Denmark simply called "The Banjo" by 3LOGY. It will lift up your spirit since you love banjos... Fourth: Plus I dedicate to you personally a song I dedicate to everybody who contacts me. The lyrics touched me as it just reflects the spirit in which I edit in Misplaced Pages and fits my choosing of the name werldwayd. It is called "I Wish For You The World" by the Games Maker Choir featuring Alistair Griffin Enjoy. Thanks again. werldwayd (talk) 01:33, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- Wow! One of the most prolific Wikipedians is a kindred spirit! Very cool...! Thank you so much for your sage advice and the links. Great videos! BTW, I edited Aylar Lie's article shortly after you did, small world/wiki. I had to do a search for the banjo since its not available in the US, I liked it... :) As for porn, I have a variety of interests related to and connections with it. I used to work in the Entertainment industry specifically in the post production area and the lines (if there are any) between mainstream and Adult are at their "blurriest" in that trade. I also actually know some of the performers, but contact is relegated to Twitter and email since I live far away from SoCal now. I have other reasons that have to do with things like the U.S. Bill of Rights and Women's Rights in general, but I won't get into that and be dogmatic. Generally speaking, I do make the effort to contribute as much crossover content as I can when I locate a good source and this extends to all facets of the industry. I think I have some decent article ideas and since I'm under a topic ban in one area, I have more time to work on them... --Scalhotrod - Just your average banjo playing, drag racing, cowboy... (Talk) ☮ღ☺ 02:12, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks again. Sorry about the topic ban. It happens when you are overenthusiastic. Always keep some detached attitude and remember that this is just a hobby and not a profession you are living from. But you can always come up with other topics you can edit elsewhere away from the banned topic area. No need to give up. I totally agree about crossover content for we are more complex than to be pidgeonholed into one single character or trait. That would smell of stereotyping and worse. Yes we are complex, diverse, constantly evolving and emerging, so yes we can encourage crossover content at many instances. Again thanks for your efforts. And the best for a positive outcome for the article at least in a more compliant way. We do need it after clearing up some of the disputed names from the list. werldwayd (talk) 03:20, 4 August 2014 (UTC) werldwayd (talk) 03:20, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- Actually I removed the last of the "questionable in any way that they are porn stars" entries, it was clean when I hit save here, but the moral minority disagreed and then started twisting BLP to hide behind. We'll see how it goes... --Scalhotrod - Just your average banjo playing, drag racing, cowboy... (Talk) ☮ღ☺ 03:29, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

WP:BURDEN
Do I understand that you don't take this seriously? That you really feel free to restore unsourced material without sourcing it? I've remove those two "National Students Scientific Groups" awards - the only thing you find when you search on that is pages mentioning Frisch. I assume they are some sort of student group from the name. Basically trivial - do you really think it's ok to puff up articles with awards with little meaning? And there are a lot of them, up to 'Who's Whos' that invite anybody almost that can pay. A plenary lecture is not always an award but it can be - I can't source that or the other one, want to try? Dougweller (talk) 14:40, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- They've been reinstated by the SPA editor, wonder who that is? Happy? Dougweller (talk) 14:50, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, the whole vanity publishing Who's Who thing is annoying. I've lost track of the phone solicitations that I've received over the years. But for Frisch, it seems that we are all still in the process of researching her and the field that she researches. I do know that one of the areas, the thyroid, is under represented in some ways and I think that might be contributing to the lack of information about her. Then again, she may well be truly non-notable, but in the meantime I'm OK with letting the article stand while we figure that out. As for the awards, I can't say that I know one way or the other how important they are, but a win is win. They may not ever have an article about them, but Frisch still won them. You were right about the 2nd place award and my apologies for not catching them. If someone has put them back, I'm happy to remove them. --Scalhotrod - Just your average banjo playing, drag racing, cowboy... (Talk) ☮ღ☺ 15:34, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- Leaving aside the triviality, we don't know Frisch won them, we just know she says she does. She probably did, but it's a matter of principal. I can't get my head around the idea of listing every award someone ever got - do we go back to when they won something when they were 8? Do we know how many awards were given out at what I presume was some sort of student conference? If 100 were distributed how is this meaningful? We try to restrict awards - film awards, book awards, whatever, to those with some significance. The editor who added them back has asked me what I meant by my post to his/her talk page saying they were unsourced. Dougweller (talk) 16:15, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- Ah, now I understand the situation better. Of course I agree that only awards that are relevant to their work should be listed, leaving out extraneous things like 2nd places and such, but I can't say that I know enough about many of the awards to know how significant they are. Guessing or theorizing doesn't help us either, we can only work with the information that we have and AGF. --Scalhotrod - Just your average banjo playing, drag racing, cowboy... (Talk) ☮ღ☺ 16:41, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- Yep, good rule of thumb - if neither the organisation nor the award has an article, it probably doesn't belong. Dougweller (talk) 17:29, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- I'm not saying that, having an article is never an indication of the importance of any subject. It just means that there is enough press to write an article about it, but there are plenty of significant subjects, events, awards, etc. (especially in the science and medical fields) that get little mainstream exposure. Unless a person is actually IN that particular field, how can anyone know what is important or not, this I say we include it but with a modicum of common sense. --Scalhotrod - Just your average banjo playing, drag racing, cowboy... - Not really necessary, you dismissed my suggestion outright. Should a person with the name "Jim Ignatowski" be written about, I hope the Editor will have the good sense to move the existing article to a name similar to what I suggested so that the real life person can have the properly named article. Xaviera
I have adopted, at least temporarily, Portal:Pornography. its completely moribund, poorly constructed, lots of marginal articles and images featured. yet, it gets hundreds of views a day. so IF we are going to have this portal, its important that it be of at least passing quality. thus, i added Xaviera to the project, and have added her image to the portal, and will possibly add her article to the portal as well. I am planning to add a "selected biography", and "selected historical image", and add all the more recent "DYK"s to it as well. Mercurywoodrose (talk) 17:02, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I recommend you bring those sources to the Reliable Sources noticeboard and ask if they are considered reliable for sourcing information about someone's comedy career. That will put this whole thing to rest. They're either good or they aren't. Kindzmarauli (talk) 13:52, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
- Good advice, I'm trying to come up with wording and an approach that makes sense. --Scalhotrod - Just your average banjo playing, drag racing, cowboy... (Talk) ☮ღ☺ 15:43, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
Notice of Edit warring noticeboard discussion 2
Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Misplaced Pages's policy on edit warring. Thank you. The Big Bad Wolfowitz (aka Hullaballoo) (talk) 20:01, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
- The report is at WP:AN3#User:Scalhotrod reported by User:Hullaballoo Wolfowitz (Result: ). Scalhotrod, can you reply to the question raised in the 3RR report? Where did you find 'high production values' in the source? If you not quoting but paraphrasing can you indicate what statements in the source led you to your conclusion? Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 13:36, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

It appears that you have been canvassing—leaving messages on a biased choice of users' talk pages to notify them of an ongoing community decision, debate, or vote—in order to influence Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Pornography#Belle_Knox.2C_revisited. While friendly notices are allowed, they should be limited and nonpartisan in distribution and should reflect a neutral point of view. Please do not post notices which are indiscriminately cross-posted, which espouse a certain point of view or side of a debate, or which are selectively sent only to those who are believed to hold the same opinion as you. Remember to respect Misplaced Pages's principle of consensus-building by allowing decisions to reflect the prevailing opinion among the community at large. Thank you. - Hi Spartaz, actually I was just inviting people to have a conversation about a subject that they were previously interested in. For the record, I posted it once, so I'm not sure where the accusation of "indiscriminately cross-posted" derives from. I then used User notification template {{U|User:name}} to do the actual notification. Was that an improper use of the template? --Scalhotrod - Just your average banjo playing, drag racing, cowboy... - obviously, I do think its a problem if you only invite people predisposed to keep an article to a discussion about whether you should create it. otherwise I wouldn't have cried fowl. 19:35, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
