I'm John Lyden, a staff member and alumnus of Rowan University, as well as the chapter advisor and brother of the local chapter of Alpha Chi Rho. I sing a lot of opera, which also leads me to have the passing knowledge of languages shown in the Babel templates at the bottom of this page. I've been branching out into Broadway-style theater lately, too. My last show was Jekyll and Hyde at the Ritz Theatre this past fall.

I also help run a site called Corpnews, where I'm uh...in trouble a lot. I know this guy pretty well.

I hang out in AfD. To check it out, see WP:AFD/Today for today's Articles for Deletion. I tend to be a Deletionist. I was recently made an admin. Scary.

Pages I Have Worked On

I've done a lot of scattershot work in several subjects, and I'm a member of Wikiproject Ice Hockey (see userboxes) amongst a lot of my other activities. My editcount topped 2000 in late January 2006 (actually right about here), but if you include deleted articles that I edited it pushes me over 2500 edits. I didn't think I did that much around here. Hrm.

My first ever Featured Article push was Wayne Gretzky. I'm glad to say that with a pile of work and references, it's now a Featured Article and was mainpaged on July 13, 2006.

Actually, now I'm over 3000...technically my 3000th edit was part of moving The King of Rally to its correct name, but I'll call an edit I made to Jaromir Jagr my 3000th, because that was really an edit.

I've been inspired by recent events to write my first short essay, entitled Misplaced Pages:I have a girlfriend but she lives in Canada.

My attempt at putting together a valid article at Baritone has finally come to an end after six long months. Bully!

On Deletion

I feel Jimbo says it best: We have how many new articles a day? If people had the good sense to nuke 100 articles a day, just on the grounds of being BAD in the sense we are discussing (having unsourced claims about living people which would be libel if false), our growth rate would hardly suffer at all. We are a massively powerful text generation engine. People have to drop the idea that every little tidbit is precious. Crap is crap. Yank it.

I don't think you should be deciding what should or should not be deleted. Who gives you that right? Why would you delete something because you think it's "nonsense". Just because YOU don't understand it doesn't make it nonsensical.

You deleted my profile about the Legendary Jason Taylor. It is an urban legend where I live. That's the only proof anyone has. You need to stop trying to make this your own website.
