Alesha Anjanette Dixon (born 7 October 1978, in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England) is an English singer and dancer, and former member of girl band Mis-Teeq. In the summer of 2005, she married her long-time fiancé, rapper Michael Harvey Jr. (aka MC Harvey from So Solid Crew).
Biography
Dixon's career began in 1999, when she met Sabrina Washington as they joined Dance Attic (a popular dance class school in West London), and the both of them became a duo. In 2000, when both Dixon and Washington were auditioning, they met with Su-Elise Nash, and formed a trio. Soon, they were signed to Telstar Records with the addition of a new member, Zena McNally, and they became the popular Garage/R&B girl band, Mis-Teeq. However, right after the release of their debut single "Why?", Zena McNally had left the band to pursue her own solo career that has yet to succeed.
They went on as just a trio, and released their debut album. In 2001, they released their first album, Lickin' On Both Sides featuring hits such as "All I Want", "One Night Stand", "B With Me" and "Roll On / This Is How We Do It". In 2003, they released their second album, Eye Candy featuring hits such as "Scandalous" (a song that they are most famous for), "Can't Get It Back" and "Style". Following the two albums, they toured the United States in 2004 and released their American debut album Mis-Teeq, a compilation of the two albums released in Europe and Asia. At the same time, Dixon also appeared as a dancer in the video for N*E*R*D's single "She Wants To Move", from their second album Fly or Die.
In 2005, Mis-Teeq made a decision to separate, each to pursue a solo career. They released Greatest Hits that contained all of the hits they released on both audio and video. The last song they recorded together was "Shoo Shoo Baby", a song that was released for the Disney animated film Valiant.
Dixon has spent the last year and a half preparing her debut album, Fired Up, for release. She releases her debut single "Lipstick" in August 2006. This will feature on the album alongside other tracks written by Dixon and collaborators including Richard X, Xenomania, Johnny Douglas, Estelle, and Paul Eppe.
Discography
Besides her discography during her solo performing years, Dixon also has singles and albums released with Mis-Teeq. For her discography information with the group, see Mis-Teeq.
