Revision as of 10:51, 29 July 2006 by James086 (talk | contribs)(diff) ← Previous revision | Latest revision (diff) | Newer revision → (diff)Shift Time refers to the amount of time without power between gears usually with reference to cars but can apply to any gearbox. Reducing shift time is important in performance cars because it means the car is rolling without power to the wheels. Shift time in a manual car is dependant on the driver but in automatic or semi-automatic cars the electronic mechanism must be tuned to minimize the time between gears.
Shift Times
- A long shift time is considered anything over 625ms
- The average manual car driver: 500ms - 1s
- Audi TT Quattro 3.2 (Direct Shift): 200ms
- Bugatti Veyron (Direct-Shift): 8ms
