APTX 4869 is a fictional poison in the anime and manga Case Closed.

This toxin is originally a product from Shiho Miyano's project in corporal reanimation, in which the Dark organization, without her permission, used it as a poison.

APTX is the short form of "Apoptoxin," and, as the name implies, it involves the activation of uncontrolled apoptosis which causes death by the destruction of cells. In addition, it can also activate telomerase.

Normally the poison cannot be detected from its victims. However, in very rare cases, it would only cause the apoptosis of non-neuronal cells and the apoptosis would end at some point causing the victim's apparent age to be decreased. Conan Edogawa, the series' protagonist, is such a victim; later Shiho Miyano, who is forced to take her own product, was joined to the very short list of people not killed by APTX-4869.
