Jasmine Kaur Roy is an Indian filmmaker and screenwriter.

Education

Jasmine graduated in Political Science (honours) from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, New Delhi and later studied film direction at Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.

Career

Jasmine's FTII graduation film 'Saanjh' (The Dusk) received the prestigious National Film Award in 2005 and was the opening film of the Indian Panorama (non-feature section) at the 35th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), 2004. The film won many awards and was also screened at several international film festivals, the most notable being the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.

After graduating from FTII, Jasmine has been making short films and documentaries and her focus area of work has been development communication. She has made films on a varied range of issues including gender, health, education, HIV/AIDS, livelihood and grassroots empowerment. She has produced and directed short films and documentaries for several international organizations like UNESCO, UNDP, Pathfinder International and UN Women South Asia. Some of these films like Meena and Scavenging Dreamshave also been screened at various international film festivals. She has also been writing screenplays and dialogue for popular television shows like MTV Webbed, Yeh Hai Aashiqui, Pyar Tune Kya Kiya and Code Red.

Jasmine has also served on the non-feature juries of the 55th National Film Awards 2009 as well as the 43rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2012. She was also selected as a participant for the Berlinale Talents 2015.
