Douglas P. "Doug" Davis (born September 21, 1975) is a starting pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers. Davis was born in Sacramento, California he went to Northgate High School in Walnut Creek California and attended the City College of San Francisco where he earned Second Team All-Conference honors in his junior season as a pitcher there.
Davis was drafted by the Texas Rangers baseball club in the 10th round of the 1996 Amateur Draft and made his Major League debut on August 9th, 1999 for the Rangers. Davis has played for the Rangers (career record 21-21 with the club), Toronto Blue Jays (career record 4-6) and the Milwaukee Brewers (career record 26-25). Davis mixes a slightly above-average curveball, a mid-80s fastball and a strong cutter which he uses as his putaway pitch to strike batters out. Davis just signed a two year contract extension with the Brewers and is currently the team's #2 starting pitcher in their starting rotation, behind ace Ben Sheets, although his poor pitching in 2006 has led some to believe that Chris Capuano is the de facto ace of the staff because of Sheets' absence due to injury.
