MC4 is the upcoming second studio album by American rapper French Montana, scheduled to be released on August 19, 2016, by Epic Records. It will be the fourth installment in the Mac & Cheese series, and the first to be released as an album. In late March 2016, French Montana revealed in an interview with Billboard that the album was complete and ready for release. In an interview with MTV, French Montana confirmed that the only guest features would be Drake, Kanye West, Nas, Kodak Black, Jadakiss, Styles P, Beanie Sigel, Max B and Chinx.
Background
On November 9, 2013, French Montana revealed an early cover art teasing the release of Mac & Cheese 4 but had not specified whether it would be a mixtape or an album. The rapper had recently released his debut album Excuse My French earlier that year. In a January 8, 2014 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, French confirmed that the record would be his sophomore album, to be released later in the year. On June 29, in an interview with MTV News during the 2014 BET Awards, French revealed that the album would drop in November, and would include collaborations from the likes of Kanye West, will.i.am and fellow Coke Boys Lil Durk and Chinx.
On December 8, 2014, Montana announced the release of his extended play. It was considered to be a collaborative project with his longtime record producer Harry Fraud, titled Mac & Cheese: The Appetizer, and wasscheduled for the release on December 16, 2014. The EP serves as a prequel or as a prelude for the upcoming album, titled MC4. On December 19, following the delays, Montana finally released the mixtape of seven tracks. On May 8, 2015, Montana released his nineteenth mixtape, Casino Life 2. On October 26, 2015, he released his collaborative mixtape with American fellow hip hop recording artist Fetty Wap, Coke Zoo. He then announced that the album had been pushed back until the unexpected release for sometime in 2016. On February 19, 2016, Montana released his twentieth mixtape, Wave Gods, hosted by Max B.
