A fun fact about him is that he was a disc jockey who played in a band and acted in the theatre while in High School

Background and Education

Senanu is a marketer with a passion in ICT,travelled to Nairobi in 1992 after he had just completed his "A" levels at the age of 19 years old to visit his father and family who were residing there before proceeding for higher studies in the USA after six months of his visit. However what was meant to be a short visit to Kenya turned out to be a two and a half year stay where he even undertook his Undergraduate degree at the USIU-A then went back to Accra. Due to unsuccessful job search in Accra, he decided to come back to Kenya with a hope of continuing with his masters and maybe getting a job. While there he met someone who referred him to Swift Global. His second visit to Kenya definitely started on a good note and is a great contribution to the individual he is today.

Career

He joined Swift Global in the sales department which was dealing with dial-up services only. However, after five years of working there, he decided he wanted to challenge himself more so he left and partnered with some friends to form AccessKenya Group in 2001 where they would have better strategic direction for their company unlike his previous work place. The main objective for AccessKenya Group was to cater for corporate connectivity which was a more sustainable business model. Kris grew through the ranks, starting out as a Commercial Manager in 2001,then became its Chief Operating Officer in 2005 before taking up the role of Managing Director – Internet Division. Eventually Access Kenya transformed to IS Kenya and he took up the Deputy CEO position until 2016.His role focused on creating shareholder value by instilling a common vision and developing the company into a dominant player in the industry. He was very instrumental in growing the company’s revenue from USD 2,000 to USD 25 Million in 7 years, with a total asset value of USD 3 billion. This achievement earned Internet Solutions (IS) Kenya equity as the best corporate ISP in the East African region. He also led the strategic and performance management of the public listing of Access Kenya on the Nairobi Securities Exchange Limited – to become the first listed ICT Company in the region.

With 20 years of experience in the ICT industry and a strong regional skillset, Telkom Kenya hired Mr. Senanu to head the enterprise division in August 2016. His appointment came about when the company was restructuring. He is now better known as the "Pan African man" because of his goals to be the go to man in terms of ICT policies beyond the regional borders. He intends to retire in 6 years, 6 months when he is 45 years of age and can now operate between Nairobi and Accra because he definitely has to do something back home to grow the ICT sector there. Currently, Kris holds an MBA from Warwick University, England and a bachelor's degree in International Business Administration with a focus in Marketing from (USIU-A). He is also a Chartered Marketer from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. In addition, he is a Board Member of the NSE. He also chairs the country’s Domain registry institution – Kenya Network Information Center(KeNIC), the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) Business Committee and the Finance and Budget Committee for USIU-A. He is also a previous chair of the Telecommunications Service Providers of Kenya (TESPOK)

Seven years ago, Mr. Senanu founded a capital venture company called Blackrock Capital which to invests mainly in the entertainment industry, a niche he saw with the trending spending habits on fun and entertainment with the middle income group of people. As an entrepreneur, Mr. Senanu admits that he has had his "low moments" when investing in some businesses that do not pick as they should. However, his main lesson has been that what sets your business from failure is the execution.
